I can't say I've ever seen him until he signed for the mancs and only seen him a handful of times then. I've heard all the chatter that this kid was supposed to be class with star potential before his move to the mancs.

So what I ask is this, if he was up for sale before he'd gone to the mancs for 25m I'm assuming everyone would be tripping over themselves to sign him yeah?

So maybe utd just isn't a good fit, it happens. So if they ain't gonna loan him yet we've got the chance to sign the player for let's say 20m, surely it's a no brainer if he's got all the talent like everyone said. Sure he dresses like a tit but it's what he does on the pitch that's important
I'm equally concerned about his attitude as much as his ability to adapt to the premiership.

Dirk Kuyt used to bang in around 15 goals a season. If we had a winger who was doing that I don't thin you'd be angry

If you watched Depay in Holland rather than making your assumptions on Wikipedia he played well. You can't assume someone's not class just because of the league their in. Banging in 30 odd goals in 40 games when you're 20 is still a great achievement in the Dutch league.

By your logic Lookman should be gash too only scoring 7 in 25 in League 1.

Not really. First off, the hit rate for Dutch based wingers/strikers in the modern game when they move to this league is hit and miss. For every Suarez theres an Alfonso Alves - both were 30 goals a season in Holland.

Depay has moved to one of the toughest league in Europe. Hes had two managers that have snubbed him. The games he played, he didn't do anything bar one or two Europa league games.

I don't need to see him in Holland, I saw him in the premiership. And he wasn't good.

Compare him to Del (who is on his way out) who has delivered more goals and assists at the same age in this league straight away.

Point being, some players need time to adapt or just can't cut it in this league so why should we look to getting Depay if this is the case?

As for Lookman. Hes 19. Wont be seen for sometime.

You're judging him entirely on his goals/wiki stats, You can't ignore his time in Holland. You can hardly judge him in the Prem, he's played 20mins in the PL this season, and struggled in a sh*t utd team under a cack manager in an awful system.

Depay moved over when he was 20 as well. He's still young. We have to take a punt on players like him in order of having a chance of having a player with his enormous potential. If he was a finished product he wouldn't come to us, especially when we don't have European football.

I'm not sure why it didn't work out at United but having seen him in Holland and last season's pre season for Utd I'd happily take a punt on him.

He struggled under LVG in a struggling utd team. Mourinho has also been known to get it wrong with young players (De Bruyne and Lukaku spring to mind)

Whom would you suggest that's a "proven" prem winger, at his age, that you rate higher that we could sign for c20m?

would like this to happen think hes got talent and needs a fresh start lots of pace and scores goals could be a great singing and one that gets fans excited gets them off the seats like kanchelskis

I'm not, I'm judging what I saw last season. A player used to time and space to work his magic. He doesn't get that in the prem.

LVG bought him based on what he saw in Holland and the national side when he managed them. Gave him games (played 30 times) and he didn't show anything better Rashford, Martial, Lingard, even Ashley Young at times.

If we'd punted on him from Holland, fair play, we'd have to mould him. But he's shown zero for United, which is why teams interested in him what him on loan, not to buy.

And a proven prem player at the same age? Deulofeu. Because if people feel Depay is better purely based on what he did in Holland, then surely you'll have to look at Del's career in better leagues.

Fair enough. But personally for me I think one bad season in a struggling team isn't enough to write off a player with such potential.

I will say that I did watch some of his games when he was in Holland and I was really impressed. I was also impressed in his first pre-season for utd.

His build theoretically should help him more in the PL. Personally I would love to keep both. Memphis has a rocket long shot which I think we need, and Del on his day has that eye for a killer pass.

I know 20m is a lot, but I'm hoping if there's a shadow of a chance he could become the player that I thought he would become at utd then I think that's something we've got to take a punt at. I want exciting players like him at Everton. Risky I know, but as it stands, I don't see any other alternatives (Koeman seems to have some vendetta against Geri)

Not sure how confident on feeling on trying to sign him, we just signed Lookman and when Depay did play last year at Manchester I was not very impressed. Like I have said though if Koeman and Walsh see something I trust their judgement.

del going leaving us with lennon mirrales and lookman as our wingers think this lad would be a good buy and 20m for a fast winger is still cheap and hes still young

Same here. These players win games, cups even.

But I think we need some consistency, someone who will deliver every week rather than once every other weekend. So £20mill on Depay IMO wouldn't be wise.

We've already overpaid for Bolasie (again, inconsistent) so I'd rather we blow a lot on someone rounded and complete

And again. Any coach that can get Depay playing to his absolute best, can drive out his demons and make him aware that only he himself is responsible for reaching his full potential will have a world class player on his hands.

No doubt about his ability at all. Wanted a loan at first, but seeing we're supposedly mega filthy rich now:) I'd say screw that loan and just take that chance on him

To be fair to people judging him and Schneiderlin based on their time at United; how many players have really impressed you at Man United over the last few seasons? I can only go for a handful. Poor team = poo player performances, or vice versa.

Then the same could be said about Deulofeu

Schneiderlin was excellent for Southampton (a player I wanted when he was there), so he's got experience in the league.

Depay does not.
