Given the misdemeanours of some who've graced this club , some of whom that are still worshipped I think a dodgy outfit or smoking doesn't really amount to much .
If the lads signed and is a success we'll forgive almost anything , if he's crap then the every fault will be used as a stick to beat him with . Same as every other football club , well except for them where they'll forgive, excuse and defend anything obviously .
You have encapsulated the issue in regard to Depay; if he was on top of his game and turning in good performances on the pitch then I agree, he does have every right to be out and about dressed like a wan-a-be matador.
But he isn't producing the goods on the pitch, he isn't earning that big wage.
I am of the opinion football fans are fairly simple beings, I am including myself, when it comes to the players, we can forgive plenty if they are turning up on match days and giving of their best. If they are out of form and favour we want them to get their heads down and work hard to get back to where we want them to be.
It is difficult to see someone taking his big wage and, apparently not really caring very much. This is magnified when fans have to work so hard to earn the money to get to matches.
I have read reports that he is a good lad and does work hard in training, that image does seem to be at odds with reports of his earlier career, particularly what Koeman has said, and the way he is conducting himself now.
