Marca, the Spanish sports paper, is reporting that Mehmet Aurelio has flown to Merseyside in order to sign for Everton.

The 30 year old defensive midfielder is apparently out of contract with Fenerbahce and ready to move to the Premier League after the Blues offered more money that Spanish Real Betis.

Aurelio is Turkey's vice captain and has played 20 times for his country (despite being born in Brazil!)

I would add numbers to the squad too but we'd be no better off, I've never heard or seen that guy play but I'm guessing he's no Patrick Vieira.
 
Are you guys having me on. Aurello is a excellent repalcement for Cars. I worry a little about the age. But didn't you guys watch the Euro's he was class second to Senna for me. Perfect replacement for a free. How can we go wrong with that. I like what Moyes is up to when a heard this get it done & dusted early. I'm feeling great this morning already. Him and Steve Round in the fold thats the sort of news I like to hear.(y)(y)(y)
 

Tuncay was great for Turkey too and has done nothing at Boro, I'd be very wary of buying any Turkish player to be honest.
 
This ones over my head, i probably have seen in play if he played for the Turks, but counldnt comment as he didnt stand out and that my friends is why i am not a manager, if Davey thinks hes good enough then he probably is!(y)

I couldn't agree with you more Mike. Aurelio did some of Turkey's best defensive work during the Euro's, even in their last game. He's got 20 caps for his country, would be solid for another 2-3 years, and is costing nothing.
No brainer, get him signed.

Everton appear to have beaten Newcastle United and Werder Bremen, while Real Betis apparently withdrew over financial reasons, in the race for Turkish holding midfielder Mehmet Aurelio.
The 30-year-old is now set to move to the Premier League club, on a free transfer from Fenerbahce.
Aurelio’s agent claimed that his client is bound for a new challenge, although he did not name the Premiership club.
Pedro Pastor told Estadio Deportivo: “We’re going to take a new course of action and will go to The Premier League.”

Nice one Reidy. Fenebache is a no slouch football team were he is leaving from. Nice pickup I deffo hope it's true. Nice no capital outlay upfront good business.

Also, I was a big tennis player in the late seventies early eigthies. That Borg emblem brought me back a few years. Fila clothing. I was a big fan of Borg & Vilas and even Nasty(adidas)

Although I am no Dave Moyes,I was hoping for a younger better player myself,but I trust Moyes I remember years ago Howard brought Paul Power against my advice:lol: did not turn out badly(y)
