Mayor Joe Anderson

If we get this stadium built, I'd have the 'Joe Anderson Stand' at Bramley Moore.
I bet he hopes any stadium built will be his legacy. In reality his political legacy will have been to act as a witch hunter in the local Labour Party harassing and grassing on socialists for his Blairite bosses and as a man who cut services to the bone for the Tories.

Not sure I understand the criticism, Saturday evening, what's a mayor supposed to be doing, opening a supermarket? Ffs

We complain our politicians are not connected to reality, yet here's one on a phone-in (he never said he was the mayor by the way) giving his views on the match and the club.
He also seems to be trying to help a city institution develop and progress, whilst also improving the docks area.

Very fickle some people

People will be quick to moan when we end up with that RS bell as mayor who'll give us naff all support in any city project whilst kissing up to that lot at every opportunity.

Enjoy Joe whilst he's here. When your sat watching us at BMD just rememeber he was a big help in making that happen.

Great post

He's well entitled to his opinion. The club hierarchy don't listen to the ordinary fans.So perhaps they might sit up and listen, to the first citizen of Liverpool. We spent 140 million pounds, only to end up as also rans this season. That just isn't good enough. So im glad that Joe as a high profile Everton fan, is making a bit of noise.

This is exactly it.

They were pretty personal attacks on Martina and Williams. If John Smith from Toxteth calls in, nobody cares. If the mayor does it, he knows it’ll be all over the news and the players will hear exactly what he said.

I don’t think anyone thinks he’s not entitled to do it, but it’s about as professional as Trump with his tweets.
Completely agree with this - the personal attacks are undignified for a man of his standing....he should be more diplomatic

To say Ashley Williams is ‘the worst buy we ever made as a defender’ - that is harsh! Can’t see how the mayor public ally spelling that out helps Williams’ confidence / the club as a whole. (Also shows he doesn’t completely know what he’s talking about - the likes of Alcaraz and Kroldrup were clearly worse than Williams ;-)

Definitely echoes of Trump here!

Yet this thread is like a weird parallel universe where this sort of thing is seen to be OK? Supporting the new stadium move makes it OK to dish out this sort of abuse?

Anyway - at least this has created some debate...

As a Public figure, he should choose his words carefully. This sort of thing will come back to haunt him in an election & could be used against him,

From an Everton perspective, unless we have our LCC financing locked in stone, it could be jeopardised if the Council's power shifts the other way.

in what way should someones football team come into consideration when it comes to the competency of a politician? give your had a flipping wobble lad. the guy is an awful tory lite, who has constantly moaned about cuts and how we have no money, yet wastes heaps on pet projects, is willing to back a private company with hundreds of millions in a risky deal, and is doing **** all for the homeless (if he is, he is doing a crap job - never seen more of them in my life)

the guy is the donald trump of liverpool politics.

The Norwegians are not allowed vote in Liverpool elections

Yet when Andy Burnham or Chris Matheson pipe up about anything Everton related everyone can't wait to wack them out and have a love in over them.
