Mayor Joe Anderson

What is wrong with this guy - shouldn't he stick to running the city rather than weighing in on football matters?

Not sure the world needs to hear his opinion on Cuco Martina's performance against West Brom - can't imagine Sadiq Khan doing the same!
I take it this is about his radio phone in last night ?

If so, I thought it was funny, and rather accurate about us.

It's a day off work for him, he's got as much right to phone in as any of us.

Perhaps he is concerned that the risk of relegation may jeopardise a project he has staked his professional reputation on.

You're right - maybe we should be hearing from more politicians on football matters! I'm sure Cuco Martina would agree...

He's a fan. He's just as much entitled to call Cuco crap online or on radio as you and me are.

Do you want him spending 24 hours a day organising bin collections and assessing planning applications?

It really is great that he's been so supportive of the club - just not sure it creates a good image for himself / the city for those looking in from the outside - as politicians don't typically broadcast their opinions on this sort of thing....

I actually think he's sound.
We all know what he is a saying is correct also.
Who knows, one of the powers that be may start to listen a bit. Here's hoping anyway.

Theresa May might have razor sharp insights into the performances of AFC Wimbledon but can't imagine her on the radio criticising the performances of their left back or weighing in on the legality of their transfers! She's got bigger fish to fry....
I remember the last time a Tory PM talked publicly about their football team, when Cameron couldn't remember if it was West Ham or Villa he supported...

Got no problem personally with Anderson speaking out about his club, just because he is a council member doesn't me he can't have an opinion, and he seems to know his onions so fair dos

I reckon the people of the city find him being a football fan quite normal.
Having read about the good folk in Westminster shagging their sectarys, knocking one out watching a bit of blue in the office etc etc, just a normal fella is OK to be representing you ?
If something serious was going on in Liverpool yesterday, I'm sure he would have not been arsed about our left back and would be doing his duties.
