Are people just cutting him slack because he's a local lad? Because he was absolutely run ragged on Saturday. Doubt he'll be good enough for Premier League level, however I'll wish him all the best for the future

I think people are cutting him some slack, in all likelihood because of his age and inexperience. There's little doubt that he got ran ragged by one of the best strikers in the league on Saturday. However with young players it's also good to look at what they can do as well as what they can't do. He got a number of good blocks and tackles in and his head never went down despite a complete lack of protection in front of him.

It's important to be balanced when judging young players. I'll mail my colours to the mast and say I think he is currently a better option than Browning & Galloway and am more impressed with him.

Browning maybe, there's little to suggest he'll be a Premier League level player either. Not sure he's a better prospect than Galloway, he is two years younger and performed admirably out of position for a fair run of games, including against top sides as well. No idea what's happened to him

Seriously though, we Evertonians get the club we deserve at the end of the day

Young lad shows some promise but because he doesn't have a 10 out of 10 game, after just coming back from a loan spell at a team in a lower division in a rush to cover an injury crisis, he's suddenly "not good enough for this level"

It's disgusting actually

We should be ashamed

Alright mate have a nice cold drink and a sit outside for 10 mins

No that's a fair point re Browning, I do think he has enough to do ok as a PL player but fair enough. Galloway is a little younger than Pennington and needs to fill out more but currently Pennington I think is significantly more advanced currently. This will sounds odd but I think Pennington looks as good as Stones did after two games, but I do grant you he is two years older than Stones when he came into the side (and much of his difficulties were down to physicality).

Anyway I quite like Pennington and while we are cutting him some slack that doesn't mean he isn't deserving of that.

....football can be a harsh business, the cold reality is this lad has achieved the status of a young pro at a Premier League club. With first team games already under his belt it's very likely he will have a career in the game. Only time will tell us if it's at the top level.

He might need a bit of luck but he should need a lot of talent.

he's done okay, apparently he's quite a smart lad off the pitch, couldn't be coming in at a worse time and looks decent in a side which hasn't been coached defensively for two years, not his fault vardy is cheating racist scum

I don't know of any incidents where Vardy is a rascist - but I didn't care for his snidey, smug pointing to Robles after the penalty - well done fella you scored a penalty - no need to be smug you Albert Steptoe lookalike mef.

You known Rooney being boss first time out was an anomaly right mate?

Most players come of age gradually over time

To judge Pennington as not good enough on one performance, especially considering the mess that the club is in in this current moment, is madness of the highest order

You're welcome to be that mad of course, go ahead, but you'll have to live with me and others calling you out for said madness

Think his midfielders & full backs offered him no protection whatsover vrs Leicester. No one covering when he was going to attack the ball, no one offering him an out pass.
The lad is a good defender, but you expect your team mates to help you out if you have 2 21 year olds playing centre back

I actually said I "doubt" he'll be good enough for that level. If he improves massively of course, then fair play, it's not like I want him to be crap. I just think he'll find his level, probably in the Championship like Forshaw and Duffy have
