Anyone would struggle in this scenario

He hasn't played senior football in nearly a year, and was then thrown into a Derby match, at Anfield

He did well at the tail end of last season then got a serious injury

He looked rusty to me, which was to be expected after so long out

The wrong game to play him in, and to be fair he only played because Koeman had few options and was making the most of what he had

I'm not especially mad at Koeman for picking him, what annoys me is the people sticking the boot in and not appreciating the mitigating circumstances. He deserves another chance IMO, the calls to cull are ridiculous

To me he just looked nervous mate, and didn't realise at this level you can't give them that much space off you. Harsh lessons learned today. But you never know. Agree totally was the wrong game to bring him in though

Lads not played all season, what a baptism of fire, he looked off the pace so did Holgate. It never worked out but he's way short of fitness.
