The game was no where near as one sided as that.
To be fair the stats mean feck all. They just reflect the different styles. France play possession football and England play... Well England were there anyway. At the end of the day, it's how many times you get it in the onion bag. And to be honest England missed the games best chance.
It was mate, it really was. There was a clear difference in class in terms of attacking play.
The French were great at picking the ball from clumsy English players who dont have good close control. All the bellyaching about fouls not given is unreal. The ref did very well overall.
I thought England were just holding out for a draw from the moment they scored the opener. Apart from Wellbeck they were poor as an attacking force (and in fact Wellbeck dd his best work getting behind the ball). Typical Hodgson team: set up to concede as little space as possible. Very workmanlike and uninspiring. I was impressed by France, they knocked it about nicely without creating lots of chances and I thought they were unfortunate not to get the winner.
