Transfer Rumour Matías Vecino

Its not a waste if it allows us to shift Snides and Iceland tho, the lack of bodies is the reason they are still at the club.
I wouldn't say it's exactly good business either. Spurs have managed to sure up their midfield with a no risk loan of a promising youngster for the next 18 months. We are going to throw 14m at someone with no future potential to do the same thing for the same timeframe.

The only way this is a good move is if Vecino is more than slightly above average and I'll be rooting for that to happen if he joins up, but I won't be expecting it. Most guys aren't Gareth Barry.

We wouldn't have ended up playing useless gets like Davies, Schneiderlin, Delph or Sigurdsson so often this season. As a result we'd have conceded dramatically fewer goals. As a result of that we'd have been able to keep out many of those 90+ minute goals we've conceded. And as a result of that we'd very likely be a lot closer to Chelsea in the league than we are now.

Selling Gueye without a proven replacement brought in set the tone for our season.
Silva's entire system last season relied on Gueye making up for inadequacies in other places. Even with Gbamin healthy it wouldn't have worked this year. Marco had to change things once Gueye left and he didn't. He doesn't have a job because of it. Is that because we sold Gueye or because Silva was crap? Probably a bit of both.

No idea who Spurs have loaned for 18 months?

But I know they paid 70m for some fella from France who stinks.

Sold Lukaku and didn't replace him. Result was we couldn't score any goals.

Sold Gueye and didn't sufficiently replace him. Result was our midfield fell to pieces.

We could all have predicted both of those things, yet the board and those making decisions at Everton failed to see both.

We havent conceded more or lost more games than we did Gana. He was a crap tackle merchant who didnt improve us at all.

We finished 11th with Lukaku twice and we havent scored less goals since he left.

Both players wanted to leave.

They have a huge clause for Lo Celso too in the loan. Also played in France (for the best team in fact) and also tosh. Meanwhile Vecino apparently got in the Inter team for a while, is reasonably priced and has bags of experience. Pretty sound deal.

Koeman got 7th on the back of those two. Who actually was good on that team otherwise? Koeman was a crap manager. Williams started more PL games than anyone but Rom. Baines was past his best. Enter Valencia and Funes Mori played in 20+ games. Stek and Robles each started for half the season. It was basically Rom, Gana and half a season of Barkley.

I don't get why our fans have to blame our good players for the bad players being bad. It's the same weird thing United do with Pogba.

Gana and Rom were both good players for us.

But we didnt suddenly go from champions to 12th when we lost them.

We stunk while they were here and we stink since they left.

We've been well worse since Rom left and we've been worse this season than last since Gana left. The drop off hasn't been extreme because good players can only drive you so far unless they're Messi or something but Rom and Gana playing at a high level in 16/17 is by far our best season since 13/14.
