Mason Holgate

Hes been our best defender in the last 2 games. Two mistakes, the goal last week he could perhaps have been better and the handball today near the end..

Looks to me that Coleman wont get many games if Holgate can keep this up. However i thought the same about Galloway and hes disappeared.
Coleman will fit Koeman's system of the RWB pushing up the pitch a bit better than Holgate, but geez we haven't had second options to Coleman in how long? This boy is going to be a star.

Liked the look of him when he went to full back yesterday. The difference in our right sided forays was evident. Not McCarthys fault really as its clearly not his position. My only concern with Holgate is his defensive headers. Needs to work on that. But he's quite quick, and has a good engine too. He'll come on over next season or two.

Shame he couldn't spot old talent though.

A Kone
Niasse
McGready

The only one he got right was Barry and anyone could have identified him as a decent signing.

Kone - You could argue he wasn't the same player after that major injury. Not saying he would have set the world alight but he was a decent option at Wigan, better than he has been since he came here.

Niasse - Total rubbish, agree.

McGeady - I find it hard to criticise him for McGeady because his signing was always a gamble with minimal risk due to the small transfer fee. Although he hasn't been good I can see why he took a gamble on him.

Saying anyone could see Barry was a decent signing is rewriting history. Half the forum were slating Barry when we got him, saying he wasn't that good, too old and had no pace. I thought Barry would be a good signing but a lot didn't, you have to give RM credit for the signing, wether you want to or not if you're being objective.

Remember the fume on here when Barry got a new contract, there were loads saying we should have got shut of him, good job those lads aren't in charge.

A City fan I worked with was raving about Barry when we signed him.

I admittedly had my reservations but I stand corrected, he has been a decent signing.

McGready - no or little risk.

The guy is one of the highest paid players at Everton. We can't shift him on because of it.

Might as well pay his contract up and show him the door.

I haven't seen him have one decent game yet. He lacks bottle imo.

Defo. lol

Best thing is, we know Koeman monitors fitness levels, so if Barry's legs go at any stage and it affects his performances RK will address it. Makes a change to have a manager in charge who knows what he's doing.

I was really impressed by Barry against WBA. His passing really helps us open up teams and now that we've got Gueye sitting deeper Barry can focus on what he's great at.
