Too big for his boots now, with nothing to back it up. If he doesn't get back to basics quickly he'll find himself back at West Brom next season. Mason, despite being our 'best defender' last season, there was and is a reason why you'll never represent England.

In the absence of any alternatives, perhaps. Go back to Keane, Mina and Godfrey with Iwobi and Digne as two full backs. Once Allan returns, he along with Doucore and Davies should provide some aggression in front of them. I would then try King and Richarlison as a winger / striker and switch them throughout a game.
That leaves James to play the free role he is best suited to. And Gomes to ONLY ever be used as last 15 min subs for ever more. And at that, as replacements for a tired James when needed. Either and certainly both of those can never play in the same side as James. A toxic cocktail.
As for Holgate, he is young and English and should command a decent fee. Sell.

He's nowhere near on the same career path as Barkley as it stands. He's got it all on to prove he can actually be a reliable PL performer, nevermind getting 30 England caps and playing in the CL.

Not as good as he (or some of us) think he is, and I see were starting to make excuses for him?

True, he's had 3 different CB partners and played at rb but that goes for all the defenders, and especially ben Godfrey, who keep turning up and performing, having a go and doing his job in the main.

His laughing and pissing about whilst we are getting dry bummed by Fulham really peed me off - do that when the games secure and we're well ahead, take the piss when you've earned the right to, not when we're getting battered by a championship side, at home.
