The football this guy is serving up is as dull as dishwater.
If "turning the corner" is Plan B, I want Plan A back. At least the game had goals
I stand with @Paul Bernard and all sensible Evertonians. He MUST be sacked.

Christ, the fumes back with a vengeance after getting beat last minute by the best team in the country

CBA reading all that, but the players the manager the staff are all equally to blame.

Bad spoilt brat behavior to throw toys out the pram and demand a manager who bossed it last year and has been faced with new challenges this year which we're starting to sort out, be sacked

Booooooo the plotters
lol

Great post. Although that train they've missed is heading to Wigan rather than Euston!
That train would have broken down and out of service for two to three weeks

We had two DMs on the pitch for most the match, three for the last 15 minutes. Not that unusual for teams away from home at Chelsea, especially heading into the end of the match with a clean sheet.

How would have you preferred us to line up to give a more attacking display given we only had two fit wingers - one new to the club/lacking match fitness and the other who rarely lasts last 60mins even when on form?
And is playing for his highlight reel so doesn't do a lot of tracking back or passing.

Chelsea also setup quite defensively. I said it when the teams came out that Mourinho was showing us a lot of respect playing both Ramirez and Matic. I think he didn't want the game to go the same as the first game at Goodison.

He wasn't groomed for the job. He was out of work and asked the top brass to take it over as it was a nothing job at the time.

Ok, fair point, but he did take coaching sessions and stuff at clubs late in his playing career. Point I was making was that he wasnt a random ex player in the Spanish media, he had taken coaching as a serious job option post playing.

Anyrate, it seems a bit daft comparing him to Gray! And for the record, I thought his Barcelona and Bayern teams were dull as ditchwater at times.

Of course it's a bit daft. I'm not really being serious.

I

I think the issue is the extra games on a Thursday rather than the travelling though.

Quite.

But Del seems to think all three away ties involved travelling to far flung corners of the world.

To "places like Russia"......when in actual fact there was relatively little travel involved in two of the three.

And when you think about it, we only really had four extra games due to the EL.

We came into the League Cup a round after Manchester United among others due to our EL involvement.

So there is one EL game cancelling out one LC tie we would have had to play.

And by the time we played Krasnadour at home the work was done and a team of young reserve players and returning injured plsyers who had barely kicked a ball all season was turned out.

And the interesting thing about that is even with none of this season's starting line up involved in that Thursday night game, by that stage we were already into Black December.

And there you have it, Zed.

The horrendous run we have been on since Spurs away started and has continued long after the EL went into winter hiatus.

Roydo as I said I wouldn't personally appoint Andy Gray because I don't think appointing an Evertonian is the way forward. Just think if that was the criteria then Andy Gray would be the best shout. Certainly better than Joe Royle who still has fans now even though in my opinion his tenure at Everton was hugely overrated (not withstanding the rescue act he achieved first season)

De Boer from Ajax would be my choice though I have no idea if he'd entertain the thought of joining Everton. As for Martinez I like his vision long-term of Everton (producing youth etc) but you can't ignore his very poor tactics and limitations which have come to the fore this season.
He did actually win something, and that is a rare thing in the lastforty years.

*Haves a quick look in this thread to see whats happening,

See shouts for Andy gray as manager

Being serious however I think the only manager I would be sure (or as sure as you can be) to be a success would have been Pochittino however Spurs snapped him up.

Monk has also impressed me but it will be interesting how he copes without Bony and a team that aren't really playing for much but then again I was a fan of Laudrup and then it all went pair shaped so you never know plus as soon as we where successful he would be off.

Apart from that I couldn't tell you one more I would genuinely not be worried about plus I don't know the other leagues lesser teams well enough.

A much as Martinez sometimes infuriates me I like what he's trying to do. He's a proper manager looking to build the club all the way through from the youth teams to the senior teams and he plays the right way when he can. He has also shown a willingness to be practical that I wasn't sure he possessed - he might be stubborn but that's better than being a flip flopper. I still get the feeling he will be great for us and this is just a bit of 2nd season syndrome.

And I was very dubious of him when he arrived.
