All the indicators point to last season being the result of the merging of Martinez passing style, with the solid defensive Moyes Everton who moved the ball quickly in the final 3rd and worked off the ball with real intensity. It worked.

This season, we've seen the real Martinez style, the pace in the final 3rd has gone, the defensive solidity - long gone, wing play - gone, the intensity without the ball - gone. We're left with turgid tiki taka, that sides know how to play against - easily.

If he's given another season, what's going to change?

You know what answer you'll get mate; they're a year older, they're trying to force him out to get Moyes back, only new players can adapt to this style blah blah blah

The basic fact is, this is how he operates. Focus on possession.

I reckon i could throw up an extension quicker than it takes us to counter attack
The irony is the players dont want moyes back. Same as the united players didnt want him there because he wasnt a winner at heart. Probably why we thrived last season because the shackles of moyes were off. come this year its like what do we do now boss, and their response is keep going, it worked last year. Would explain Martinez's one season where he didnt fight relegation

They aren't fond memories. They're just not disastrous memories of the sort Martinez is creating as we speak.

Also, last season is last season. Now is now.

yeah fair enough but why are they being dredged up now? he's barely been mentioned on here in over a year and now that Martinez is imploding the moyes references are back.....I notice the 'I never wanted Martinez in the first place but.......' old chestnut appearing every second page also, another line I dont remember seeing last year

I'm not wrong though. And it's not foolish to claim that we've had a huge up and now a huge down and that that means - as long as safety is secured - we need to find out in season three what this feller can or cannot achieve.

It's funny, you and others say that all I'm doing is desperately defending the indefensible, when from my viewpoint none of you have come up with a persuasive argument that has us needing to pull the trigger on a manager now who's team still are in pole position to get safe.

I realise you're not part of the hardcore haters on this issue mate, but there's people your identifying with on here who wanted Martinez out last season! That's how nuts they are over unseating the manager.

1 Place up ~10 places down, yer cos thats about the same.

We should all buy @davek a drink at the end of the season for his contributions to the forum.

Whether you agree with his views or not there's no denying that he's earned it.

He's been allowed to play the way he wants.

He's been able to sign the players he wants.

Have the pre season he wanted.

Have the staff he wanted

Ect ect....he's had privelages Moyes could of only ever dreamed of.

As time's gone on and the club and players have become more and more martinez than moyes wev got worse and worse. That's the truth.

I'm as close to ever voting "out", but I doubt it would make any difference to what happens this season

If we're going to sack him, I'd prefer to do it at the end of the season I think as the dross below us will ensure we don't actually go down

I'd imagine that if we lose to Newcastle and go out to Kiev, that will be all she wrote anyway
