This is happening again and again. Slow out of the blocks, give the opposition a goal start and then finally wake up and start playing catch-up.

Not sure how long we can keep getting away with it tbh. The only reason we do sometimes is because we have enough quality players to dig us out of the mess we have created.

Someone* has created.

Not at all - you play to win, end of story. You adapt to win games. You don't stick with a busted style of play with players bereft of confidence at all costs, because it will ultimately result in the players losing faith permanently with that philosophy.

The more strings to your bow, the better.

Fair point, I just don't think the style of play is busted. It's something that was probably going to hit snags along the way and have people asking for more direct play and writing it off as wannabe-barca balls, but that was to be expected when we went from 11 years of consistently decent, stability under Moyes. The players and the fans were going to be uncomfortable at some point.

If we turn things around and have a good season next season playing this style, I think it would hugely reinforce the philosophy's credibility. It'll have hit that inevitable bump in the road and come out the other side. The way Moyes was written off in 2004 and came back the next season saw him really win the faith of most of the fans for the rest of his tenure.

"It has to be a turning point for us because the crowd is intelligent..."

Well I never.

All along we've been waiting for the crowd to point us in the right direction.

Nice one Bob for spotting this.

Olympic gold medal.

Good for you.

I think a lot of it stems from Martinez being our first fully fledged foreign manager.

He's too tanned to be appreciated for any stretch of time by our UKIP leaning fanbase sadly.

Are you kidding? Everyone loves a fancy foreign manager with exotic philosophee and swavy style or hair. If we were linked with Enrique de sivola tomorow from Portugal everyone would circle jerk (even tho he is a figment of my imagination :) )
