Not at all - you play to win, end of story. You adapt to win games. You don't stick with a busted style of play with players bereft of confidence at all costs, because it will ultimately result in the players losing faith permanently with that philosophy.

Fair point, I just don't think the style of play is busted. It's something that was probably going to hit snags along the way and have people asking for more direct play and writing it off as wannabe-barca balls, but that was to be expected when we went from 11 years of consistently decent, stability under
Moyes. The players and the fans were going to be uncomfortable at some point.
If we turn things around and have a good season next season playing this style, I think it would hugely reinforce the philosophy's credibility. It'll have hit that inevitable bump in the road and come out the other side. The way
Moyes was written off in 2004 and came back the next season saw him really win the faith of most of the fans for the rest of his tenure.
