Why settle for 4th rate when the best manager in world football is available?

Tbh I don't think he fully fits either model, maybe somewhere I between.
I think his stubbornness swings him more towards the kick as type due to the way it comes across as its his philosophy, his players and no matter how bad it looks at times he's unwilling to change it.
He also makes examples out of players and isolates them if their not in his favour, Kev for example, which is why I said he's not an arm round the shoulder kind of guy.

Where would you place him??

From an outside observer I'd have thought he's definitely a manager to encourage and support his players, the archetypal "arm around the shoulder" manager, openly showing players his confidence and support. I'm surprised anyone would think differently that's why I asked.

I'd have thought the reason certain players aren't featuring often is through a lack of form from themselves and simply others are doing and playing better, nothing to do with any stubbornness. Only a fool would deliberately choose one player over another through any personal agenda, he's not going to hinder his own team on purpose.

We are probably gonna have to agree to disagree on this one, I don't see Martinez being a man manger at all, my view on it is he's a very isolated figure, he doesn't seem to have any rapport with the players or coaching staff, during games he stands out on his own very rarely consulting his coaching team.

I know you advocate Howard heavily and that's fine but Howard's form for over a year now hasn't been good enough and I think his stubbornness to pick Howard regardless of anything else is costing us points. In that respect he is hindering the team.

his stubbornness not to use the whole squad on a regular basis is also hindering our progress. I'm no football manager but it's quite plain to see he has "favourites" and this must be causing unrest in the squad, as it seems no matter what some of the other lads do they arnt getting a game, this is another example of bad man manegment.

The final would not be enough. He would need to win or else we would have lost to either Stoke or (I am not even typing them).

We have had a fairly manageable passage to the semi, needing pens to get passed Norwich. Man City will be a very big test over 2 legs but we have the players to do so.
Do we have the tactics though?

Even if we have the tactics do we have the defence or keeper?

Not sure how many other strikers we couldve got with his goals/games ratio

Me neither if I'm honest, but then I don't have a scouting network so I'd hope there was a contingency plan.

I'd guess we could have found someone who was riskier in that they were unproven and have money left to spare for, say, a keeper, but we'll never know. Can't argue with the decision to sign Lukaku though. I thought we were paying too much at the time, but in retrospect, it looks about right now.
