Osman and Pienaar both taken off with knocks.
You know the squad is stretched when Gueye makes the bench.
So its around the 70th minute and we are cruising and look set to score another couple of goals. Martinez then decides to put Heitinga on and switch to a 3-5-2. Thats ok and worth a try to see how we adapt, but as soon as that change happened we got totally dominated by Norwich and I really think Martinez should have seen this quicker because they had about 5 very good chances to score and all these chances were due to the tactic change as we lost grip of the match.
I thought Martinez should of subbed Stones for a midfield player or moved Heitinga further forward and gone straight back to the 4-2-3-1 because had we conceded which probably should of happened we could of thrown away a massive 2 points.
But as it was we got away with it but them last 20 minutes were a hell of a lot more nervy than they needed to be and I just felt Martinez could of acted quicker. This is in no way a gripe at Martinez because I think hes a legend and the best thing to happen to Everton for decades, but this was probably the first sign of a bit of hesitancy from him when I felt he should of spotted a problem and acted on it.
That wouldnt be the reason why their players suddenly found so much space. Surely it would just be a reason for us to be less useful when we are in possession but defensively we seemed all over the place.
Haha did he make the bench today?!. Seems we really are struggling for numbers now in the squad. Barkley may be out for longer, Jela possibly on his way out, Alcaraz didn't play due to injury or what ever, Pienaar & Ossie had knocks. We are becoming stretched abit.
Thats the bare bones we had out there today and as you say we picked up another 2, if Heitinga would have gone to West Ham we might have to field 6 subs? Cant think who else we could have named.

To be honest, he's got a point. I thought the last 20 we lacked cohesion. Fair play to try it, but it's another example that it doesn't work.
Rom looked sharp
Oh yeah and to say we SHOULD have conceded is quite ridiculous. It bears no more weight than me saying we SHOULD have scores 8 goals.
The problem was Pienaar got injured immediately after the sub. Had Pienaar not got injured we would have been fine. Can't plan for taking a creative player off, only for the most creative player in the game to get injured a minute later.
