He was the boo boys favourite for quite a while before he became amazing. Our own fans used to shout donkey at him

Was alright, better for Arsenal, though even still he overated for me, like he wouldnt get near our all time top 10 centre halfs, was in the right place at the right time at Arsenal.

Heard he was a bit of a bell with us!

He's got the brains, would be a great addition to the backroom staff to be honest. He absolutely loves Ross as well.

Mate he was bloody awful for us initially. Took quite a time before he started performing well then we sold him.
Big nev wasn't fussed with him, says he always used to ask during the game 'am I playing ok'

He was young though.

This post sums up best how I recall Martin.

He was "alright".

I think some of our friends on here are remembering him through tinted specs :)

I have a vague recollection of him going off with a busted nose , pumping his fist to us in the zenith data blert cup at Wembley ! Or I'm having a LSD flashback in which case please ignore this post.

...yep, decent CB. I'm not sure he was particularly popular in the dressing room, remembering it had been a close bunch in those days. The famous Sheedy incident has been well reported.
