Amazing! Henry Winter is one of the most respected sports writers around. Would love you to expand on your theory that he 'seldom has a clue about football' Seriously...it would make interesing reading.

I'm sure there are plenty worse out there than him, but being amongst the better of a bad bunch is damnation via faint praise.

He seems to frequently go on moral crusades, whilst at the same time adoring Stevie G. Just not my cup of tea I'm afraid. Hopefully my opinion of his work won't diminish your own enjoyment of it

It's difficult for a national newspapers sports journalist to reflect accurately what we see though. Especially given that they dedicate so much time mulling over the attention seeking clubs and focussing on the "big" games.
