Think he's far better than Mirallas on the left. Mirallas is a better striker in a front two, but still wildly inconsistent.

What Arnautovic would do that no other play at the club currently does is offer a constant threat on that side. Mirallas, whilst having quality once in a blue moon, is far too often completely missing. I don't even think the term 'inconsistent' covers it.

Same goes for Arnautovic imo. I'm not against us signing him and am confident he'll offer us something, just don't think he's that much better or different regarding inconsistency than Mirallas. Have to add I'm probably one of Mirallas's biggest fans on here

Nothing wrong with this signing if it comes off. If it is our best signing of the window that would be a disappointment.

Honestly though it is not the attack i am worried about - it is the defense.

Scoring was not the problem - we bagged 59. It is reasonable to think we can improve on consistency with coaching. (and yes i say that even though i selfishly love the idea of a Mata or Sigurdsson....they could make us even more fun to watch)

We allowed 55. That is why I love the idea of Carvalho. The replacement for Stones will also be vital (plus I do think Funes Mori will continue to develop nicely).

Then the keeper solution will be imperative to get right. The right keeper can be worth ten points by himself....

I can't stand Mirallas and there's no way I'd have Arnautovic over him in the side.

Not a massive fan but for 12m in today's market can't complain too much. Guessing him and Mirallas would split time depending on who we are playing and who's in the better form.

Even if he's not starting will be more use on the bench covering left wing and striker than Kone and Niasse.
