He was Bournemouth's first choice goalie for a while about 3 years ago and didn't do too badly. He's obviously regressed since then. Let's just hope Pickford never gets injured.
According to quite a few season ticket Boro supporters I work with he was very good for them last year.
“Cup keepers” is one of my biggest pet hates in modern day football. A backup keeper plays when the first choice is injured or suspended, otherwise you’re actively weakening the team in a key position for no reason whatsoever. There’s a reason he cost us £4m and Pickford cost us £30m, because they are a completely different level of player.
I don't think he's regressed, he was their first choice in the championship just like he was Boro's last season. He's never been first choice in the PL. He was quite an odd signing for money, he's not genuine competition for Pickford by any means, he's several levels below.

It’s probably tough as a keeper especially to just play sporadically. Remember Robles‘s first couple of games he looked like he‘d never played football before, but once he got going he looked solid
