Not exactly sure why but I have been singing the Pussycat Dolls Jai Ho! song (in my head) and replacing the Jai Ho part with Rojo.

The hell is wrong with me

If we forget the pricetag for a minute (which even if accurate, is subject to negotiation) just what's so ridiculous about it ?

He can play CB and left back.

Silva has worked with him already at Sporting.

He's a part of one of the PL's tightest defences. A cruciate ligament injury in 2017 seems to have set his career back a little bit, Mourinho's not picked him so regularly since then

He's a seasoned international with 59 caps

A battle hardened defender with loads of experience at the highest level is exactly what we need to give the right kind of support to Holgate, Keane, Kenny and any other young(ish) defenders who get game time under Silva.
 
Disappointed you're signing United deadwood again. Would've thought you'd go for Mina instead who's younger, has more potential & is one of the most dominant players I've seen in the air.

Smalling's pace gets him out of trouble a lot.

Positionally he's just as reckless if not more so than Rojo.

I wouldn't mind smalling, but he's crap on the ball so Rojo edges it there as well.

They're probably equal in the air and I'd say Smalling is more disciplined in not diving in etc, but he's prone to a huge error too.

Smalling is much better than Rojo!

And I don't think he's long term the answer. Short time yeah maybe, but then so are most top flight defenders compared to Jags Keane and Williams. I dunno. Not convinced this is sensible at all.

We do need a bit of steel in our side though and he adds that too, as does Charlie. We're a gang of fannies otherwise.
