We are what Liverpool were with Rodgers in his final season - money to spend, no particular world class player and flailing around 8th.

Once Rodgers went FSG had a decision to make:

1. Continue going down the road of mid table appointments (Woy, Rodgers, Dogleash) or

2. Try for a top class manager something they haven't had for many a year.

They went for 2 and havent looked back.

At some point the club/owners have to seriously assess the manager recruitment policy and realise we can keep chucking money at players but nothing will improve when the managers haven't the quality to morph them into a top quality unit.

Rodgers (apart from Roy’s 4 month stint) was the only manager since shankley who never won a trophy at them. They’ve always delivered silverware of some sort

I agree although post Rafael (who I dont think was that great a manager either tbh) they appointed duds and once Suarez left they had not one world class player which was the first for as long as I can remember. Think their front line was Lambert, Borini and Ngog.

Had they not gone for Klopp and just took the easy route of a Koeman or other flavour of the month I dont they would be anywhere near where they are now.

Its just frustrating that with the money we can spend on players that we would attract a very good manager (maybe not world class) but instead we seem content with appointing managers from clubs like Watford & Southampton.

And we wonder why we achieve sod all.

But they’re a world class brand, we’re not. We simply cannot attract someone like klopp who was one of the most sort after managers in the world with the exception of Pep

It’s reality, we haven’t won a pot in 24 years. We are no different from the majority of mid table teams. We have history, but so do Leeds, villa, Forest etc etc

We haven't spent anything like what Rodgers spent though. I can't imagine a manager of Klopp's profile would join us.

Agree but I don't think we're going to get one of the best managers until we have built a better balance and critical mass of quality players.
I think Silva's getting his chance while all this is going on.
While Brands is the key to real progress during this phase.

Silva might not be solving whats happening on the pitch
but he maybe doing a good job behind the scenes and that's what may matter to Brands and how things progress.
Its interesting Silva talking about the players learning languages this week, maybe talking in the realm of what he is actually making progress with
and deflecting from where he's not.

Reckon its best to get a top manager (one of the very best) when the timing is right.

Also, right now we are probably going to have to put up with (and enjoy!) the players and supporters making the progress on the pitch, rather than relying on Silva. Silver lining maybe that its the supporters who are leading during this period???

Im not suggesting we could attract a world class manager - but surely the likes of Mancini, Erik Ten Hag, Rudi Garcia maybe even Mourinho who's stock has fallen.

Someone better than a bloke who's only achievement is winning the Greek League and relegating Hull.

Rudi Garcia won the double in 2011, 8 years ago; nothing since
Erik Ten Haag has won the double in a tinpot league that frank de boer managed to dominate
Mancini is now the Italy manager and doesn’t play the football that would gel with Brands
Mourinho is just a massive NO

It may not be Silvas fault but during the window we needed the following :-

Striker, still need one. DCL cant hit a barn door and Kean could take the rest of the season to see even a glimmer of what he can become...
Centre Back, Lost Zouma, not back up beyond Jeane and Mina.
Centre Mid, Losing Gueye is gonna hyit us harder than you think, no mobility in the middle of the pitch

I fervantly think we are weaker now than before the window, Kean isnt the proven striker we need right now (maybe in the future), Gmabin or Delph arent on the same level as Gueye and we are a CB short, we are arguably a winger short as well....

I think its more than whos managing the team, our record against the top four has to be the worse in the whole of world football, its a mindset at the club,an acceptance of being nice, most other fans will say they like us,I want them to despise us and that only happens when you are successful and ruthless
