Wouldnt blame the manager tonight think is on the players the finishing was terrible, thougt made decent subs but surely he is as pissed off at dcl finishing as us and will hopefully start kean

For me one of those new signgings should have been in the starting XI. It just gives the team a boost. I also think by the same token that throwing two new lads on at the same time is a poor move when they are both adjusting to their new team. He got it wrong in every aspect for me.

Not good enough to manage a club with aspirations of top 6. Without having to get technical because it’s plain as day; poor away record, can’t find a way to win after conceding first, limp attack. Good performances are few and far between, the last one was at home to United in April. The players aren’t great either, but he should’ve started Iwobi and Kean tonight, Villa are weak as piss. But then again so are Everton so it is what it is.

More footy, less tactics please Macro. They looked constrained by orders at times.
There is definitely a sense that Silva's tactics work on the whiteboard but not in the reality of the match.
Have been arguing for a while now that there are elements of his strategy they are easily worked out by opp coaches
From there it falls apart, players lose their way, to manage the game, to simply play football.

He did change something tonight though.
He brought on the two new players with Keane moving vertically and Iwobi more laterally.
So at least he changed up the movement a bit.

But it really hasn't solved the problem of the 2 (Gomes and Schnide)
While there was a bit more dynamic movement from the 60min
overall its still static, ie two feeding four
the opp is quite happy to let it go wide to the consistent overloading fullbacks out wide
just read the movement and anticipate the passes coming into the four.

there has to be three instead of two, with one moving into and changing the dynamics of the 3 forwards.
obviously its not always the same one moving in.
This stuff doesn't need to be secretive, they just need to play bloody footy, its not as if they can't do it.

I think this incredibly harsh. We have reinforcements in the areas that aren't playing well. Wait until they are in the side and then we can make a more insightful determination on Marco.

I'm not saying I don't have doubts, but I'm not giving up yet either.
Giving up is not an option. I'm not going six feet under until Everton's played some proper football, then I can rest easy.

How are the new players giving us an insightful determination on Marco?
Improved results may just tell us we've got better players, not a better coach.

Because it gives him options to fix the attack. I mean if we suddenly start creating regular chances and scoring goals do to adjustments in team selection or tactics that goes to him at least a bit. Yeah the players might just be better but he still has to use them.

“Making it simple means you can make it more complex over time while appearing to keep it simple”.

Can you try and explain what that means Blue, because on a couple of reads it’s sounds total hogwash...the type of quote you’d read on a Twitter feed that thinks it knows about football.
Sorry, not trying to be funny but I can’t make any sense of it.
Being linked to the swampland of twitter - cuts deep bro

Y, was just on about, say a bunch of players come in and the strategy is few times removed from anything they've played to before,
well get em all playing something they are all reasonably familiar with first, get em playing it well
then make a change down the track, make a tweak for this match, a diff tweak the next one
if you walk in the first time down the track you'd think it complex, but to the guys there its simple.

you've got guys who can't speak the language
you can't play to your natural instincts if your head is full of stuff.
Walcott's head looks fried.

you should always be gravitating towards making at as simple as possible, not the other way around.
god i must sound like a toss, the twitter salt was probably spot on.

The way I see it is, I liken us a bit like spurs from 5/6/7 years ago. Bought some rubbish and bought some very good young players. Who eventually started to gel, is poch a great manger or a lucky one who took over at the right time.

Players like rose & walker took about 3 or 4 years to become very good players, the Belgian centre backs were shrewd buys, dembele in midfield struggled in his early season, as did eriksen & Son. It was only 6 years they were getting beat 5 at home v Liverpool

With Brands buying mainly young players, will it be another manger who maybe see’s the last couple of cherries bought for the cake. And gets the success, that maybe silva started, personally I hope silva is give 3 or 4 season, I like him as a manger, i by some his comments her wanted a couple more players.

I’m not going to be all negative 3 games in, though 4 points is disappointing. I thought we could definitely challenge top 6 this season. And I still do, but it was going to be imperative we didn’t suffer injuries and have our best 11 available every week, we’ll unfortunately that’s going a bit pear shaped at the moment.

Gomes was shocking, but I don’t believe he works well with Schneiderlin or in the system with siggurdsson, 433 for me moving forward. And if we look at the starting 11 tonight, this time next season I see. One new CB, new RB Gbamin plus another midfielder. And another forward/wide attacker. So that’s basically 5 players.

This team still has a long way to go,

I hope your right, but a lot of his options seem poor.
But who knows whats really going on, plans in store etc
Tonight was very disappointing though, no closer, no decent football in sight.

I think credit where its due, he abandoned his tactics and went 4_2_4 after 60 minutes, at times with Digne and coleman pushed up it was a 2_2_6, but we didn't have the killer instinct in front of goal.

Think a couple of players need to be dropped for the next game. Start Iwobi and Kean, Gomes needs rest by the look of tonight's performance

Can you see what he is trying to do though, how he's trying to play? Might just be me but I find it unclear. I think we're actually pretty patient as a fanbase, despite the epic fume, we can put up with a transitional period but we need to see some sort of progression or implementation of ideas.
Seems like he's coaching them too narrowly, classic case of plan A is not working, what is plan B? The players don't seem to have the confidence to play around his tactics.

Terrible subs today. First two players coming on were good but took off bernard who was are best attacking player and waited until the hour mark for no reason. One centre mid couldn't put a foot right and the other one only shows up when it's pointless games at the end of the season. How Gomes AND Schniederlin both got 90 minutes astounds me.

A rest? A rest from what? Modeling delayed kit releases?

Atrocious performance from him. Disgusting

Did he screw it up massively today with his team selection? Yep.

Does he deserve to be sacked because of this? Absolutely not. And I don't even like the guy.

Today was a very good chance to go top of the league and for a lot of us to take screenshots to remember the occasion. For whatever reason we looked lethargic and just so crap. That has to fall on Silva as it's his job to get them focused.

Can he, for the love of GOD, please stop choosing DCL over Kean tho? If he wants that to be the hill he wants to die on, so be it. It makes absolutely no sense to keep on choosing a player who contributes the squre root of FA tho. He's a one in EIGHT striker ffs!
