He's done a Moyes-esque job with Bournemouth. They have no resources, limited talent but he's made the very most of what he has to be fair.
The problem for me is that when I watch his teams they either play well from the off or they're terrible. There's no Plan B, no in-game adjustments.
That and anyone who spends a combined £40m on Jordan Ibe and Dominic Solanke has to be treated with caution. For that reason alone I don't want Howe. I think he's a relatively lucky manager who can get a tune out of a bunch of players but only through inspiration rather than tactical nous or smart buys.
It's this, really. He's punched above his weight now for a while, it's really amazing what he's done at Bournemouth, and playing a prettier style of football than Dyche at Burnley.
But they go through some terrible patches where they can't buy a point anywhere, then they seem to play 4 games when they look like world beaters. Devil's advocate might say that's because of the inferior players he has on offer, but to me, he's not really any better than what we've had recently - inconsistent play. And no Plan B
