Mike Phelan relegated Hull not Silva. He very nearly rescued an impossible situation. We gave Fat Sam £6m for playing 5 at the back against West Ham.

I can't say I've watched much of his teams, but having read a good number of the opinions of Hull & Watford fans that have, it seems clear that attention to e.g. set pieces in training was non-existent and stubbornness in sticking to an attacking approach in games where it wasn't optimal sounds very much like Martinez. Their styles definitely aren't the same, but it wasn't really style of play that saw Martinez fail here, imo. It was his failure to pay proper attention to defensive elements of the game.

Silva focuses on every part of the game including the other teams throw in, he also focus on fitness unlike Martinez and his teams don’t pass for passing sake. He also focuses on the defence and builds from there.

That's why I said their styles are different.

Again, on the approach to defending, I'm going off the opinions of the Hull and Watford fans whose opinions I've read. Admittedly, these fans aren't overly keen on him and may not be entirely unbiased in their views, to put it mildly. I'm certainly not 100% confident with Silva, but I'll back him.

Still find it surprising that Leonardo Jardim does not seem to attract much interest.

I know he said he is staying at Monaco, but that could be in response to a lack of decent offers.
