The difference between Martinez and Silva's relegations is that Martinez decayed Wigan slowly from the inside over the course of 4 years whereas Silva was appointed with Hull already on life support and expected to perform a miracle.

Don't think this is happening, Watford are digging their heels in and his advisors will have informed that leaving a job so soon after starting won't look good. If he does a full year there, has a good season (top half finish or a cup run) then he'll probably get other offers next summer when it will be far easier to pack up and leave.

Would be willing to give him go but just don't see it panning out. With every day that passes it gets more likely that we'll probably just give it to Unsworth for the rest of the season. Definitely don't want that personally but we're badly low on options.

Can I remind everyone that the last relegated manager we appointed got us a record premier league points tally and flirted with a champions league place.

BUT YOU ALL KNEW THAT DIDNT YOU.

In the 16/17 season with Hull Marco Silva won 21 points from 18 games.

This is an average of 1.166666667 points per game.

Over a 38 game PL season this would be equal to 44.33333333r points.

Last season that would have got you 12th. 2 points off 8th.

Yes he ultimately failed and took Hull down but the job he did with and awful side and limited resources to bring players in was actually pretty damn good in my opinion.

He’s done well in Portugal, Greece and has got Watford playing some good stuff.

We could do a lot worse.
