Arsenal have top 4 expectations yes. But they haven't won the league in ages now and only the most deluded of arsenal fans would have thought the title was realistic.

They have a largely deluded fanbase though.

Emery and Arsenal are exactly where they should be at present - in 5th and once Emery brings in some defenders he'll have them fighting for the top 4 next season.

Silva on the other hand has spent a fortune and has better players than the clubs around us who are beating sides in the top 6 and are above us. To simply put it - Silva is underperforming and our fans have every right to question what the hell is going on after these last 2-3 seasons of utter crap from top to bottom of the club.

They went 20 games unbeaten and are through to the latter stages in Europe.

We've won 7 games in 20.

Not really the same like.
The point I was making was that their manager is in his first season as is ours, so when results aren't going well fans shouldn't be calling for his head.

Frustrating since November 24th he’s won 2 games for this club. People accept mediocrity too much. Emery would have been a better fit, this fella will struggle against Leicester and finish 9th-10th didn’t we all jump on fat arse over this?

I do too. The club is now entirely a vehicle for a massive regeneration project (and the profits associated with it). People have got the lob on for the Docks but Everton is Goodison and its surrounding area, profitable or not - we move away from this (and forget the legacy projects, it's not the same as a matchday atmosphere) and you fundamentally abandon your basic principles. People can say 'yer but we left Anfield' - it's round the corner and was a century ago. Sure, you can dress it up like Arsenal do, perhaps put some statues outside of former players, but Arsenal aren't about anything any more, in the same way neither are West Ham and ultimately, neither will be franchise Everton.

Could not agree more. Arsenal have completely lost their identity. Highbury was Arsenal, Upton Park was West Ham etc.

Hate how these soulless, homogenous bowls are ripping out the unique identity of clubs. I’ve previously put it like this. (Let’s pretend Highbury still existed). Blindfold someone, transport them to the centre spot at Highbury (remove the signage around the stadium so they can’t be told where they are), remove blindfold, they will know exactly where they are. Do the same to the Emirates, they wouldn’t know. And even if you were a more learned fan you still wouldn’t be sure as Benfica is a replica of the place so you’d be guessing.

In fairness to Spurs they have at least tried to make the stadium look unique (does look fantastic with the one big stand), so they maybe an exception (time will tell), but all these other bowl stadiums are a blight on the game.

We beat Burnley 5-1. Players on a high

Then he states in the press conference (or was told to by someone high up) that we are unlikely to be signing anyone this January. It’s the usual story we hear every December.

However why say that a day before the game?

Instantly all the players who aren’t pulling their weight think great I can relax as my place is secure

And the ones who are performing (albeit not many) think what? Where’s the ambition?

Complete joke of a thing to say and it’s typical of Everton to say the wrong thing at the wrong time.

Hence you see a completely lack lustre performance today

Not many managers come out and say we're signing players in January even if plans are advanced to get multiple players in. That's why it's the same old story every December, not just at Everton but at numerous clubs.

The times you do see talk about needing new bodies are generally the ones were a new boss comes in (Allardyce) or an under pressure boss has been told there's nobody coming in and wants to pressurise the board or get his excuses in early - Mourinho and central defenders for example.

Otherwise you don't show your hand and the main point is to speak a lot but say nothing. Player know this in an age where they're told by their clubs what to say on social media etc - they know the drill when it comes to media duties and they know transfers aren't publicly acknowledged as happening until they're more or less done 99% of the time.

There may well be multiple reasons for today's loss but I certainly don't think it was because the manager said little of interest in a press conference.

Silva spent a fortune ?

No where near what Koeman & Walsh did.

What we spent in the summer Liverpool spend on a goalie or a centr half.
Manu spend that regularly on one player.

Until we can spend like the top clubs , we have to build albeit slowly.

Klopp struggled early days as did Pep as did Pochetino so it will take time .
So lets drop the get rid of the manager lark , even the guy you seem to trust (Brands)said we "need to be patient there is no easy fix"

Erm...think we tried for Emery...he said no.
