Honestly don’t understand why there should be a short term setback (being crap) and somehow it deems as normal.

If one cannot do the basic instantly, then honestly don’t understand how it will suddenly goes well after the next summer.

Same has been said when Martinez and Koemam were here.

Just do the basic and do well at home then surely Silva will be fine.

I don't think they're will be. But if there is, I don't want him sacked. I want to see what Silva and Brands can do with numerous windows. Because chopping and changing doesn't work.

What's the 'basic'? Because from what I can see, he's transformed how we play, we don't play with fear, we look to attack, we have gone from one of the oldest sides to one of the youngest?

He needs to be given the full season definitely however if we sign 1-2 players in Janaury including a good striker and we finish lower than 7th and still no improvement on performances against clubs around us then I would want him out tbh.

Too many fans lack ambition- under Moyes/Roberto I accepted the odd 6th/7th finish followed by the odd 10/11th place because they had little funds to work with.

Our managers performance should be based on points on the board and finishing position in comparison to our competitors based on the resources we have to them and we currently are spending the highest resources outside the top 6 so anything less than 7th for a manager with a patchy managerial record for me isn't good enough to argue things could get better.

Obviously a strong FA Cup run would possibly change that if we finished say 8th, however anything less is unacceptable when you consider the money put in from the owner compared to clubs around us like Watford, Bournemouth etc.

The fans moan about lack of ambition from the board and players? Maybe they need to look at themselves first. Utd will sack Jose come the summer because the resources they have should have them higher than 6th and performing better against sides they deem are their competitors.

You wont have Utd fans saying "ah well Jose is a good fella and we've chopped and changed loads recently we need to give him 3 more seasons and have stability and see what he can do with his own side". Same with Chelsea fans etc and thats why those clubs win trophies whilst we haven't won a carrot in over two decades.

I thought Moyes never got two bottom half finish in a row as an Everton manager. In most cases, he got 4th-7th.

Yes, and their ruthlessness got them nowhere...

And as I've already posted, Spurs were in exactly the same position at this stage in his first season as we are now.

to be fair you could argue the managers they sacked got them nowhere ( hence why they were fired ) ( like Martinez and koeman sam where all binned )

pochettino has done great but lets be honest about this they were EXTREMELY lucky they pulled harry kane out of absolutely nowhere

if we had a harry kane I think we would genuinely be around the top 5/6 teams to be fair

Say beat the like in Newcastle and Watford at home. 7th in May. Then, we can have a solid platform to build upon, hoping to evolve further as a team next season.

Yes, an element of luck. Just like how Klopp has got lucky that Salah turned into Europe's leading goalscorer despite never showing form like that for Roma (even though he was decent).

You need luck, you always need luck.

But Poch has also built a young, vibrant squad that all believe in how he plays. We can't ignore that.

I mean one thing we do know is baines is very comfortable with the ball at his feet, and can pick a pass

would rather see baines in midfield for a game rather than say a schneiderlin

It's a bit like the three at the back for me - I wanted to see it but more out of hope than expectation.
I agree Baines has quality but would have concerns that he is a bit one footed for the middle of the park and would also wonder if the positional sense would be there. However I would also try him over Schneiderlin any day of the week.

All that being said my post was more saying that if Marco did try it and it didn't come off then there would be an implosion on this thread!

don't get me wrong im not saying he should play there but if push came to shove

re in bold, gareth barry was so left footed as well mate and he wasn't bad was he!

Apparently @hktoffee does not tolerate failure and will be sacking him personally if we finish below 7th. :coffee:

Obviously you @Mark O'Silver made up lie here.

I said if he gets 15th with this squad not anything below 7th. I said 7th is ideal and if he gets 8th then that prove there is no progress as results do not back it up. I also said I have no idea what to do if he does get 8th, at this moment.

A. It doesn't
B. We wont
C. See B.

Jib it off. Modern football is rubbish.

Oh and we wont win the FA cup either even though I said we should go for it. We will get knocked out by one of the BIG SIX's reserve sides who will then go on to contest the final with another of the BIG SIX's reserve team in a match being played at a stupid time in front of an apathetic crowd who couldn't give a toss if they win it or not.

Boss.

In fairness, this doesn’t happen ever
