Its a purposeful philosophical one isnt it.

The way i read it is, if you sign a player at a certain value the secondary success they can bring footballing is worth the outlay. Or it could be like "overpriced" Richarlson hes going to be worth double what we paid for him.

Its an interesting insight, beats Moyes "Bringing a knife to a gunfight analogy".

Hes a clever guy is Marco.

Silva said something like, sometimes you might buy a player for 5 or 10 million and they don't have any impact, they're the expensive ones. Whereas 50 million for a player certain to hugely benefit the team in a way like Gomes does, then they're the cheapest ones.

What's most impressive is how Silva was able to tweak the strategy from the Chelsea to Liverpool match
yet for Pickford's mistake with the same result.
To turn the defence round in such a short time and get these types of performances speaks volumes.

Allardyce had 5 clean sheets from his first 7 games. He did this without (a fully fit) Coleman mina zouma, digne, gomes and richarlison

That's over half the team,

True.

But he did it by putting nine men behind the ball, thn completely bypassing the midfield, with aimless hoofing of the ball to a striker who may have well pulled up a deckchair for the entire game.

Must try harder.

Looking a little more vulnerable on the counter is a byproduct of being a more attacking team. But we're conceding less, scoring more and playing far superior football that's better in every department.

Not only have we got more entertaining football but we currently sit 6th in the league. We are a couple of players from being able to challenge every team above bar maybe City. If Allardyce was still here we would probably be 8th and the football would be dire. So far so good for Silva but I won't start bracketing him with the top managers until he's had 2-3 seasons and it's all his own work. 8/10 so far.

Not EVEN just a couple, probably just one in the form of a better quality replacement for Sigi (think Richarlison-level) and then we're practically guaranteed Champs League qualification if not better. Then we need to work on strengthening the bench...
 
It really shouldn't be a surprise we are progressing so well under his stewardship. He's utterly excelled at every club he's been at. I include Watford and Hull in that.

We have got ourselves the real deal here. I'm just concerned that he is so ultra ambitious that we won't have him for long. He is that good. However we are a massive club and given the financial backing, which has been there thus far to be fair. This could be the beginning of a beautiful relationship.

He wont waste too much time here with us if he gets us top 5 and is offered a new job at a club with more cash.

If you call getting Hull relegated and getting sacked at Watford excelling, well you have very, very low standards my friend, very low.

Doesnt take away from the very decent job hes doing here, of course, but, im just sayin.

If you mentioned his record prior to joining this league it was very good.
