Yes, I understand that now. However, the major point stands. Yesterday underlines he's not what we want on the left. Richarlison was bought for the position and needs to get back there...as his no show yesterday also underlines.
Different games, different tactics.
Bernard and Digne linked up well against Leicester and they both had space down the flank. Likewise, Richarlison had space in behind because Leicester pushed forward.
So, and I said this a few weeks back, in away games i don't see anything wrong with the Bernard-Rich-Walcott-Gylfi attacking unit, or at home against teams we know are going to come out at us. We are suddenly a very dangerous counter-attacking side, and those four can be deadly.
Now, at home against teams who will come and sit back, soak it up, we probably need another solution. I'd say Tosun up front (or DCL) for now, until Jan when maybe we get another striker (unless Tosun's goals come and then maybe we can wait until the summer to see what's available rather than rushing in Jan).
Tosun, for example, is more adept at that front role but doesn't have to worry about using his (lack of) pace to get in behind. There's no space there anyway so he can concentrate on linking the play (which he is decent at, when it clicks) and creating space for others/getting on the end of things in the box, where he needs to be.
That means dropping one of the front three behind the striker, and we have four (five, if you include Lookman) first-team ready players to pick from.
It's a really nice problem to have, for once.
