I would be more optimistic about his appointment, I could even have just brushed over the terrible start to the season as just a learning curve, but from what I’ve seen of Silva in the Premier League, he can’t cut it.

It’s like we just haven’t learned from what happened with Martinez at all.

What good would a new manager do right now? He'd have same players. Who would you bring in anyway? What's his remit? Would you sack him after his first loss too? Who would you then bring in?

I want better as much as you do but you have to accept that things don't just miraculously get better. Not when you're talking about a shambolic club who got into a mess and panicked by appointing Allardyce. You've got to give the bloke a chance. If we are still a shambles at Christmas I'll maybe listen to you. But probably not even then because he needs the season barring a disaster (14th or worse or thereabouts.)

Your posts are the inane ramblings of a deluded unrealistic fan, or else you must be about 12. No offence.

Things will get better. But probably worse first. Keep the faith but keep realistic.

I live in a land where Man City went from nothingness to the best team in the country. They did that by ploughing huge money into their club. They actually backed up their claims that big change was coming.

‘The plans he has for this club are beyond the wildness dreams any Evertonian could imagine’ - Paraphrasing Bill Kenwright when Moshiri joined.

‘Nothing will ever be the same’ - the slogan they promoted.

Why then are we hiring bang average managers? Are we going to magically improve by doing this? No. We headhunt the best available, which Conte is as a free agent, and make hem huge offers. That is the only way we can improve.

Let’s stick to the way you think fans should be behaving, though. It’s really working.

Well, some of us live in a land where Everton once couldn’t afford to pay a few hundred grand for a Greek defender who has gone on to become one of the world’s best.

So spending 300 Million over 2 and a bit years is bordering on Wildest dreams territory.

I’m going as far as giving him a free pass this season, that gives him this season to inbed his style of football into the club, then January and next summer to bring in his players and rid the club of the losers we have carried for so long. Then we can judge him properly.
To be fair to Silva, he probably does need a season just to get his feet under the table and be able to show what he can do. But we all know what will happen come Christmas if we have continued to miss picking up points. As I am watching the team play, I can see progression and the groundwork being laid for better times, so I hope he gets time and we all get a bit of luck along the way to enable it.

4 years? planet are you on lad

he'd be lucky to get 4 months in this day in age where managers have a few bad results and get binned

think we've been shocking so far, in disciplined, wasted chances, no organisation , no leaders, no game management, some poor decisions tactically ( starting players and subs )

but he does need time to get the players we brought in fit and back playing when this happens I think we will improve, however he needs to be putting extra work in with the defence but Martinez was absolutely tore apart on here for our defence at times and every game this season our defence has been a shambles
I agree, but you can't compare it to Martinez. Martinez was torn apart because he took a defensive unit which we knew could be solid, and made it porous. 3 years into the job the defence was getting worse. Silva's only had 5 games to improve a defence that was awful last year. He needs to start tightening up, absolutely, but it's nothing like the Martinez situation.

Totally agree.
He's got time to sort this and get his team playing his way.

Bringing Baines on the other week as a sub has set some alarm bells off in my head like, not gonna lie.

Except here's what you said in May regarding Silva:

https://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/...w-everton-manager.103990/page-35#post-6351682

So now what you've done, is have the biggest knee-jerk crybaby reaction possible and demand we should've sacked Silva just a month into his job because Conte was suddenly available. Yet if we'd waited until July to appoint a new manager you'd have been doing the most wailing and flapping on here about us not having a manager in place going into pre-season. I used to quite like you as a poster, but you've gone really, really boring lately.
What’s wrong with what I said in May?

He has my backing, unless he looks like he has no chance of turning around bad form.

  1. Threw away a two goal lead at Bournemouth.
  2. Couldn’t beat Huddersfield at home, mustering only one shot on target.
  3. Smashed at home to a team who were rock bottom of the league after 4 straight defeats.

I think that constitutes as bad form and it’s getting worse, not better

I honestly didn’t think a manager could be worse than Fat Sam. Unfortunately for us, it looks like we found one.

I haven’t changed my posting style. I’m just sick to death of this club and the nothingness we are. I don’t see grounds for any optimism. Sweeping changes are needed throughout the entire club.

So instead of waiting to see if he actually can turn around bad form, you've just waited until the very first moment we hit bad form and demand we sack him. It's ridiculous.

I didn't want Silva either, he wasn't my first choice. But he's our manager and I'm prepared to give him a fair crack of the whip. 5 games without being able to field anything like his first choice XI does not constitute that.

So what you are saying is that after 6 games in which we've lost once you have concluded that he is a lost cause and we should sack him. What a ridiculous statement.

to be fair mate, Martinez inherited a very good defence, but a very aging defence ( only coleman was at a decent age ) distin and howard were shot, baines and jags were on a rapid decline,

I still think he'll turn it round because every game it seems to be individual errors that keep on costing us, and he cannot control that

I do see why you think it is ridiculous. If he was an unknown manager and we had this start, I wouldn’t be calling for their head.

I’ve seen what went on with him at Watford and it’s a concern.

That’s David Unsworth Everton team was possibly the worst I have ever seen in the 20 years I’ve been going the match. That team managed to turn around a two goal deficit to beat Marco Silva’s Watford.

This bad start has been very concerning. The alarm bells are ringing of what’s to come.
