Well I think it's clear enough now who holds the high moral ground here. Watford have insisyted throughout the whole saga that they weren't prepared to negotiate with Everton (something we were told by the "ITK" journalists was untrue and that they were merely looking to get more compensation...which is what I thought too). Watford though have chosen their right to forgo arbitration (which could hand them retroactively paid compo) and decided they want a disciplinary charge where they will get no compo.

That indicates to me that they weren't bargaining with Everton last year.

Wheels within wheels...all the time. Watford probably think they could make top six this season, and it would be very helpful to them if one of the main competitors for top six was hit with a points deduction.....

In fairness to Dave here, if (and I appreciate it's an if) this is true, then he's absolutely right. It's not acceptable and it's not how I want us to go about things. I wouldn't like it if someone did it to us, so I don't want us to do it to others. I won't lose any sleep over it like, but it should be called out as bad behaviour, and if it ends in a points deduction then it's also incredibly stupid. Hopefully the investigation will show that we haven't overstepped the line - such as it is - and that'll be the end of it.
I suppose it was fine and dandy when Sir Alex called Moyes and asked him if he wanted to be the next Man U manager about 3 or 4 months before the end of the season?
It goes on with every transfer or managerial appointment, club asks "are you interested?" if they get a positive response, they contact the club involved.
Watford are just being dicks here, they had a chance of compensation and didn't take it, the manager didnt leave them at the time dont forget.....WATFORD SACKED SILVA and we offered him a job, he was unemployed, if we get so much as a censure from the FA or Premier League we should sue or boycott something, it happens all the time, watford need to get over themselves.
I can't wait until we play them.

Is this actually happening, or is it speculation from the papers? Either way, Watford are pursuing this now because they got off to a good start. They know that their current manager is headed to West Ham in January.

Why would You think I’d be fine with someone doing it to us when I’ve just specifically said I wouldn’t?

Watford obviously think they have a case, and the PL seem to think there’s at least enough to make it worth investigating, so I’m not quite as confident as you truth be told.

Apologies, just re-read my post and it wasnt aimed at you in particular, just a comment in general meant by it.

Tapping up goes on all the time. Watford are absolutely hilarious. If we get more than a fine I will be shocked.
The FA and PL don't want this mess, it will put a massive amount of work on them, interviews with former managers and ex players all reveal the same thing, that with every transfer ever made the first contact made is with agents "would there be a chance we could sign xxx" if the agent says yes then an official approach is made. Watford could be about to open a world of hurt for every team including themselves
The FA Rule K on arbitration applies to all parts of a club, not just the players. It is possible that the Premier League rules are similar. (Otherwise Watford could have taken their case to the FA.)

When Chelsea were found guilty of tapping up Ashley Cole they were fined £300,000 and given a three point deduction, suspended, by the Premier League. There is a precedent.

Well as I've said the PL rule book mentions nothing of manager "transfers" only has rules mentioning players.

Had a look at rule K of the fa rulebook it's rule Q in the PL rulebook this is just arbitration they make no mention of tapping up its about disputes between clubs managers and any staff, the reason Chelsea were hit with these rules s because they broke other rules, they can't use arbitration rules against us because we have not broken another rule. The most likely outcome of this is that the tapping up rules will be changed to include non playing staff.

Can of worms and all the other idioms, with this.. Did they not actively engage in compensation at one point when Silva was their manager? Lots of whataboutery by the little 'dawne sarth mockneys'.

Load of utter revisionist nonsense that article. We've been on receiving end plenty of times. I remember City naming Stones in their CL squad before they'd even signed him. But yeah, we're the worst culprits and deserve a points deduction.

Can't say I'm surprised. A nonsense article from a no mark journalist who writes for an elitist publication that nobody buys.

I mean overall and for years past. We are second rate. We last won a trophy 23 years ago. We have second rate players by and large and we have people who have run the club into the ground and a new owner who is obvioulsy not a football person and he's making ham-fisted decisions because of it.

How, in a culture like that, do we expect anyone to be uncomplaining?

That culture you are talking about Dave, surely extends to when Johnson took over is that right? Do you not think thern it is a bit harsh to call the latest owner
