I'm just looking forward to not being bored to tears week in week out, for that I am cutting Silva some slack

Having had a bit of time to think about yesterday's game, there is some to be positive about.
We look really good going forward, a refreshing change from last season. Valencia are a Champions League team thisbe season and are no pushovers. We will score more this season and create more than last for sure.
Richarlison looks a great signing and if he can keep up that intensity, him and Walcott will terrorise defences.
However, on the subject of defence... yeah it looked bad. The goals were down to stupid mistakes. Players? Or bad defensive system?
Probably somewhere in the middle I think.
But this is still very early days for Silva, and there is much still to fix.The early signs are, to me, that we have improved from last season.
The defensive issues do need sorting as a high priority, but I doubt they'll be anywhere near fixed come the end of this window.
I think we will see some big score lines and plenty of "Eff off Everton" for a while, but no where near the relegation doom some have been pedalling!
One way to have stimulated and speeded up the defensive purchases would have been to transfer list Jagielka and Baines as soon as he arrived months ago. They are no great loss and usually are found to be at the heart of all our most obvious mistakes in conceding. For anyone who tries their best - read, laziest - to compare him to Martinez for not addressing the backline: https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/everton-go-through-second-pre-14993658
The Blues won their opening game of the summer, 22-0 against ATV Irdning, but failed to pick up another victory and Silva says results matter – even in non-competitive games.
And giving the Portuguese coach cause for concern ahead of the weekend's trip to Molineux is the ease with which Valencia were able to score at Goodison.
“To be clear, the results are important either in pre-season or during the season,” Silva said.
“Like today again we made the same mistakes which are not normal at this level.
“Like the third goal we conceded.
“The first two moments, they approached our box, two crosses and scored two goals.
“Even the second goal when we were in a good moment at 1-1, it was too easy for them to score the second goal.
“It is something we have to work on and for sure we will improve.
“The result today wasn’t good again. I took some positives, during the first half our attack and offensive organisation and defensive moments.
“I didn't see the opponent create a lot of chances.
“But each time they go there, it looks like they can score. That is not good.
“The boys are working hard to understand what I want as well and in some moments you have to have the confidence to make the right decisions.”

Not doing that and then compounding it by buying a winger for £40M has left us with another "preseason" in August/September.
Obviously Brands is culpable too. Silva in particular though needs to understand the brutal reality of life as a manager at Everton: lay down the law and get your own men in or be prepared to be undermined at a later date. The feller needs to toughen up and start demanding players be got shut of and those he wants brought in WHEN HE wants.
Because for the good of the club they're important to get out. It cant be stressed enough how much they contribute to our continued malaise.Your obsession with relentlessly slating these two players on a daily basis is massively weird lol
And that is saying it nicely.
...necessity is the mother of invention.yeah, because buying players is super easy. you just name your target, click your fingers, and there they are with contract Dave.
every player is obviously dying to join us, and just waiting for that call. None of them have any ambition of playing for stronger clubs, and none of them are happy at there current clubs.
transfers according to Davek....

If you have two gaping holes that weren't there before it lends a certain urgency to the situation.

Yeh worked the way last Summer when Lukaku got sold didn’t it![]()
