I get where you're coming from mate but, to me, it's important to have an environment where people feel comfortable criticising the manager

I don't know much about this Richarlison fellow, so I'm not going to have a go at the signing until I've had a chance to see him play for us for a decent amount of time, but I have no issue with people voicing their opinion if they think we've paid too much for him

I just don't think debate should be shut down and I don't think we always have to be "on message" as a fan base either

Just me though. I sometimes think that there's an atmosphere on here where you're not allowed to question the club or the manager, and I personally don't think that's healthy

In my mind Evertonians used to give players and managers time to impart their worth on the team. Since the money has arrived there is very much a culture of we want it now, now, NOW.

Its not the club I know and love where everyone feels comfortable ripping into players, managers, calling everyone crap and being completely negative. We have a young coach who will have his own ideas and how he wants to do things, I hope we give him time and let his squad develop with him.

I completely disagree that there is a culture on here where you cant criticise the club or manager, in fact I think its rife that everyone does.

I get you mate, but you're also overlooking that past 5 years or so where managers have gone out of their way to bring in players that they've managed before (Alcaraz and Kone for Martinez, Martina and Stekelenburg for Koeman etc) where people were critical of those signings and ended up being correct to be critical as they went on to flop

There's enough of a sample size out there for people to legitimately question Silva spending such a wedge on one of his ex players (And a mostly unproven one, even though he's shown positive flashes, which is only a good thing)

As I've said previously, I'm going to wait and see what happens with this Richarlison lad and back him, as I hope many others would too, but I also don't think it's unreasonable to question the signing when we've seen previous "jobs for the boys" situations go awry in recent history

And to be honest, I've seen a lot of positive posts on here for both Silva and Richarlison. The main people complaining seem to be the ones who are annoyed that someone is harshing their buzz by having the temerity to critique the situation. I've not seen much hardcore negavity here aside from the usual gimmick posters who like to complain about everything and can easily be ignored. Most people having a critique of this signing have been reasonable about it IMO

the point is Brands also fancied the player, I have no reason to not believe that.

My biggest point really is that we havent kicked a ball comptetively yet and people are moaning. Give the manager a chance and above all a bit of time is my opinion.

I agree with you, but I also think you shouldn't have a go at everyone who has critiqued this

I get why it can be frustrating, but at the same time there is a definite difference between those who are negative for negativism's sake and those who have genuine and reasonable critiques, and too often on here the latter get confused for the former and end up unfairly maligned

I take the complete opposite from this forum, half of the fan base just kick off at anything we do and it boring now, its a brand new set up and people are moaning already, just get behind them, let Silva and Brands implement there ideas and get the players/fans get on board. If it doesn't seem to be working come the end of the season then yes criticism may be warranted. Rather than jumping on everything they do.

We have done it. We have been officially COMPLAINED ABOUT.

Watford FC feels compelled to make the following statement in a bid to correct erroneous and misleading media reports concerning an ongoing dispute with Everton FC.

The club have made an official complaint to the Premier League over an allegation of an illegal approach to former manager, Marco Silva.

The complaint to the Premier League makes clear the seriousness of the allegation and what the club believes is overwhelming evidence of a clear breach of Premier League rules.

At the request of the Premier League we entered into mediation with Everton in a process that involved club officials and their respective legal teams, with no conclusion being reached.

Therefore the disciplinary process continues. In pursuing its disciplinary claim, the club has known from the outset it forfeited any right to compensation as a consequence of not following a proposed arbitration process.

We believe this situation is not about a compensation figure but the principle of making a stand when the actions of one Premier League club completely undermine and cause intrinsic damage to a fellow member club.

We trust in the Premier League to fully investigate the complaint and we will comply with that process.

The club will be making no further comment.

LOL

The most small time thing I've ever read. You'd be utterly mortified if your club tried to get compensation over a manager you voluntarily decided to sack.

Not sure what they want to achieve with this? They could open the floodgates for anyone to complain of an "illegal approach". They are also potentially incriminating themselves in their approach of Silva while he was at hull.

How embarrassing are Watford! Laughable really! You sacked him and we picked him up as manager months down the line. They should have just took the probably huge compensation at the time because he didn’t want to stay. But blame us for his head being turned and their season going backwards. Pathetic.
