Had (and still have) some worries re: Silva prior to his arrival regarding his underwhelming record so far in the Prem. Regardless I support him as our manager, but I digress...

What has really struck me since his arrival, is the regard the players seem to hold him in. We've seen it with Richarlison, Besic recently praised his training methods and another Watford player (whose name escapes me) also sung his praises after he joined us.

If he can marry the respect he seems to command from the players with a high work ethic, then that is an excellent foundation to push the squad forwards.

The question remains as to whether he has the ability to link up this respect from the players and buying into his system with a high work ethic and consistency on the pitch.

Guess we will have to wait and see for that answer.

And Ryan Mason

Via Sky Sports - Everton recovered from a poor start to the 2017-18 season by finishing eighth, and few teams were as busy defensively as the Toffees. They produced 617 headed clearances and 514 interceptions, both ranked as the third-highest in the league, while 1229 clearances in total was a league high.

The defence making that many clearances suggests teams played through our midfield too easily and we sat too deep. Two big changes need to happen with the high press coming in AND please please please sign a good centre mid.
Agreed - the kneejerk reaction is that our back line was awful last season, and sure, in fact they weren't good. But to me our midfield was atrocious last season and accounted for a lot of our ills - Schneiderlin, Rooney and Davies had a lot to do with that

And don't forget what he did with sweet Prince Oumar at the dumpster fire that was Hull City the year they went down. What Silva did there fell just short of miraculous

People just like moaning, its really boring to be honest.

If both Silva and Brands really like this player and Silva has first hand knowledge of working with him why not go for him?!

After a few years of spinning through managers Silva will get time with me, Im excited about the season and see how we do.

I get where you're coming from mate but, to me, it's important to have an environment where people feel comfortable criticising the manager

I don't know much about this Richarlison fellow, so I'm not going to have a go at the signing until I've had a chance to see him play for us for a decent amount of time, but I have no issue with people voicing their opinion if they think we've paid too much for him

I just don't think debate should be shut down and I don't think we always have to be "on message" as a fan base either

Just me though. I sometimes think that there's an atmosphere on here where you're not allowed to question the club or the manager, and I personally don't think that's healthy
