Pretty much. I think sorting the defence should always be priority as if you can keep any game at 0-0 obviously there's a chance to nick it.

In this regard we've recruited correctly, prioritising the back 4 as a whole over the striking position. However, the tactics are a little gung-ho for our players, some are already beginning to looking a bit jaded/tired.

I admit, when it clicks we look like a proper unit, but I'm yet to see a full 90+ minute performance of that level. That is what we need to produce on a regular basis.

Hopefully this current form is just a blip, combined of playing so frequently and the obvious horror of that Liverpool game.
There tired because they have never played this way before.
A lot of off the ball running takes its toll and not all players can adapt to play that way

We haven't had a "dip in form" tho. As far as I can remember we STILL haven't had a match where we played great in both halves. That's not necessarily on Silva either, we haven't had one of those since...honestly can't remember.

It's his job to train the team to perform how he wants to play. If you look at the previous 2 matches, he's failing at that.

I'm not saying "sack him" either, as long as we don't drop down the table big time I'm good with this year. If he gets the plaudits he should get the stick as well.

Dip in form in terms of results, definitely. I don't know, Leicester, Brighton we were convincing for both halves. Chelsea I'd say the same. You don't have to dominate or control an entire game to play well.

And no, the team are playing how he wants us to play, clearly. So how is he failing in that aspect?

I know you're not saying sack him. I just don't see what reason there is to give him particular stick at the moment. If he was making mental decisions or doing a stubborn Martinez thing of not trying to fix issues etc than fine, but he isn't. We got beat by the best team in the country today, and (as Pep said after the match) we created three chances that we should have taken. We shot ourselves in the foot, again. So Silva needs to fix that by the time the teams roll around to Goodison in the second half of the season.

We're on a poor run results wise but that happens. We're a team that's still in a rebuilding process and we clearly need a few more tweaks, but it'll take time.

You are a shockingly bad football supporter with no pride or passion watsoever, i wish you supported someone else, no wonder we are a nothing football club with fans like you

Thanks for that assessment, I actually don’t give a rats ass what you think though in all fairness.

Yes my opinion is what’s holding Everton back, definitely, Well spotted lol

Goalkeeping and defensive errors have crept in over the last 4 games. Extremely bad ones. We have 3 capable centre halves. Mina had a shocker today so he should sit out next week.

It's as much about setting standards and creating a culture as improving the players. I've said it before but it's the old cliché, we're very bad in both boxes. Everything in the middle areas in between is secondary.

Look, if you want to bring BFS back, that's fine, but to ignore that we are creating chances as a result is just silly.
Who said anything about bfs.

He goes into every game looking to play the same way. Problem with that is you get predictable.

Plays this tippy tappy stuff from the goal kick which the defenders can't do and lose the ball.
Lose the midfield battle in most games.
No striker to put away the chances.

No opposition fears us, they go into the game thinking we can win this.

Needs to start analysing the opposition and tweaking the way we play depending on who the team is.

To be fair, in one of Silva's recent interviews he mentioned about dropping Davies for Gomes based on a tactical decision because of the side we were facing.

But really it just needs to be more than that. Flexibility and adaptation etc.

What errors are down to the coach though mate?

Pickford throwing it in? Mina panicking?

I get your point about standards but you don't go dropping your GK or your best CB just because of one mistake.

Got no issues with saying we need to freshen it up either, that's fine. He's open to criticism.

Just don't get why we have fans so ready to jump on anything bad. We're a weird fanbase. Sick of it tbh.

I'm still very much behind Silva and don't see that changing any time soon. I just think he needs to improve standards. If that means tough decisions so be it. I think Pickford is the type needs told publicly to cut out the daft risks. He's still living off his cult status from Russia. But none of us give a toss about the WC. He's not winning us points. We're not scoring enough and conceding too many. Correcting that is his challenge between now and May.

How do you mean though Tim? Because as far as I can see the standards are high and you don't go chopping and changing to 'maintain standards'.

My one criticism is that - like you say - we're poor in both boxes. But, mainly, attacking. So how do you 'improve standards' in that regard? We can't sign anyone, when he drops players their replacements don't play well in the same system. So what's the plan?

The plan has to be to improve the finishing but there's only so much a coach can do. It's down to the players in those situations to make the right calls and they haven't done all season against the big sides. The system is working because we're creating those chances.
