There's little evidence to suggest that he wouldn't accept it.

He's been starting games because he's been the best option for that role, simple.

If that changes, then he won't be starting.
I'd hope so. But he left Arsenal for game time. I doubt he'd be happy to sit on the bench for any extensive period if need be.

Yes. But he needs to accept, as at Arsenal, this isn;t a minnow club and that rotation will be required.

Yeah, which is why I said when we bought him he'd be okay for me for two years, but by that time If we're serious he'll have been demoted to the same role he had at arsenal.

Which is why, IMO, he'll be very reluctant to accept in good grace a bench spot now.

Nice knowing we will go to old trafford and at least try and win..

This would of been a fat samuel roll over and die weekend
Correct mate that's the difference we will go to win. Thought we played well at Arsenal and could have won if we had put away our chances so more of the same for me

Tbh I think a lot of the work he has done is taken for granted. He could have easily been in awe of Rooney or valued the experience of Bolasie or Williams, or made promises around rehabilitating the likes of Klaasen to be seen to be saving money. It would have been so easy for a manager to come in and still be playing Baines Rooney Schneiderlin Mirallas etc. We’ve forgotten how ruthless he was when he arrived and how good those decisions are now looking. Rooney’s having an Indian summer in the MLS but not one of the players who have exited is pulling up trees anywhere. To add to that all of his signings thus far have gone straight into the first team. That’s a great hit ratio to have.

Not sure if anyone else has already mentioned Michael Keane's interview on MOTD2? He was asked what Silva brings / how he prepares for matches. Interestingly he stated the level of detail in preparation for games, indicating it is more comprehensive than under any other manager he's worked with. Both in attack and defence.

Makes you wonder what Koeman and Allardyce were doing.

With the benefit of hindsight, Koeman was lazy and arrogant after Moshiri pursued him, and Allardyce did what he was hired to do. We can argue the toss how much in trouble we were in, but regardless, his mandate was stay up. Was horrible, but he did do that.

I don't dispute that at all. It was more of a rhetorical statement. Slightly tinged with curiosity about Allardyce- he after all has the (mythical?) reputation of being a reactive tactician par excellence who specialises in defence led coaching.

Slugging gravy.

I guess when the chips are down, thats exactly what he "excels" in, but in reality, with us, he just needed to pick up points against the crap sides. There was enough quality in the squad. He knew it was a 6 month job in reality, so wasnt too arsed, knowing a few million would wing into his account in the summer.

Which, when you put it like that, is a truly sad indictment of Koeman. I.e. outperformed by a half baked Sam Allardyce.
