Defending in general and specifically on set pieces has been a major problem with Silva in the Premier League. It’s the one area that screamed he couldn’t set up a team for this league. If he doesn’t resolve this then he’s done. I know Brands helped Cocu with this so hopefully he can help him sort the problem out.

Signing two new centre halves, plus left back and new defensive midfielder who can pass wouldn’t go amiss either.

I actually agree B.B.

It’s not his fault. It sounds like he’s told them who and what he wants and they’re taking ages to do it. Again.

And that’s both the players he wants in and the players he wants gone.

I actually think it stretches back to when Moyes left. Martinez took a balanced top 6 squad and turned it into a dad’s and lads one, a few good young prospects surrounded by old nags. He didn’t replace key players properly always looking for a quick fix. Then Koeman replaced the few good players we had with a load of tosh so we’re now left with a squad completely devoid of pace strength talent and creativity.

I actually feel sorry for him, he’ll have spent weeks trying to teach this lot some of the basics of football only to see them go out and turn in the same performance they’ve been giving since 14/15. He has a huge job trying to get a tune out of these spineless biffs.
