I think it's an opinion that everyone is entitled to mate just like you, and as yet no one knows if he is going to be a success or not so for you to be calling people out is a bit premature.

But that means nothing if you concede daft goals that cost you points. Under Martinez we let in some calamities as we have this season - Bournemouth also seem to let in stupid goals (albeit more frequently from open play).
If both Everton and Bournemouth were better drilled at the back they would be above the likes of Watford, Wolves and Leicester with the goals from the likes of Richarlison, Gylfi, Wilson and King imo.

There isn’t much between us and them three
I think most people will argue we should be ahead of them teams, with the money we have spent. But a counter argument is
1) a new manager abd DOF, difficult summer with the world cup , signings that weren’t fit,
2) I think in the whole we have defended quite well from open play, where we have struggled is from set pieces and from crosses, though we seem to have improved on that recently.
3) I would bet my life we have had a lot of worse decisions than all them teams, we have had some shocking decisions against us this season. And that easily could have been a 10 point swing maybe more.
I’m behind Silva abd he definitely deserves this summer and next season, with no World Cup and hopefully signings in early we can hit the ground running next August.

Some of our players have just been absolute divvy's this season, It's hard to put all the blame on Silva tbh, Can we really say zonal is bad or are our players just too thick to make it work? We've had some absolute crazy mistakes this season that are freak accidents are just some things you don't see every season.
Pickford should never do the Liverpool thing again.
Coleman shouldn't score an OG after it hits the post and them hits him on the back and goes in (Watford)
Keane hopefully doesn't miskick it and let Vardy go clean through.
Newcastle offside goal, Jags wrongfully sent off etc.
I don't wanna divert all the blame on Silva because through Christmas we were an absolute disgrace but you hope these thing won't happen next year which wouldn't be so costly in games.

It's not an attack on the poster, who I find amusing tbf. It's an observation that Silva's critics have shot their fox and they're race is run...at least for this season.

He might well have us finishing 9th or even 10th. But he had a job this season to make do and mend with another manager's squad by and large and to set a style of football in play that we can build on. The fact we see a lowering of the average starting line up is also a massive positive.
It;s been a good season from that perspective and it will do for me as a base to move off from.
As said on another thread: it's up to Brands now to give him the tools to get the job done here.

I hate to super stats heavy, but most objective measures have us as a significantly better team than last year. We were very lucky to finish 8th last year - ridiculously lucky, actually - and a bit unlucky to be in the spot we are in this year. Over time, with a team that is comfortable trying to do what Silva wants them to do, we will perform better.
The players still aren't good enough in many instances. And to not give Silva the players in central midfield to be able to aptly play his system isn't fair, but my guess is that will be ironed out soon enough. Next year should be better for certain. We'll see how much better Wolves, Watford, and Tottenham / Chelsea / Arsenal/ Man U get, too.
The problem is (and we can all get caught in this trap) you can end up with your colours to the mast and I'd probably say big conclusions on all managers are like to leave you looking a tad silly from time to time.
Moyes I felt was a messiah, then looked stupid when he's flopped everywhere else.
Martinez I thought was awful, then thought he might lead us to challenge for the league and leave us for Barca, before begrudgingly accepting he should go (which didn't massively help us).
Koeman I was on the fence about, but wanted him to go at the end, but we ended up with Allardyce.
Oddly Allardyce warmed on me, I kind of went the opposite way to everyone else, major fume at the start but got used to him.
Silva I could have gone either way on, he impressed me a lot from the summer but the results haven't been as good as they could be.
It's a mixed picture though which (certainly from my part) a lot of mistakes. I'd also urge people (especially if they don't like someone) to enjoy being proven wrong when they do well!

Your bottom point is the interesting one, everyone expects/hopes we'll improve next season but so will the likes of Wolves, Leicester, West Ham etc.
It'll be the size of our progression if any that will determine if Silva deserves to keep his job come next seasons end.
For me he has to get either 7th next season or 8th/9th with a cup win.
Anything less than that after more money spent in the summer and his own starting 11 / 2 seasons under his belt isn't good enough I think most would agree.
