Did you see the replies on Twitter, my god the majority hailing McCarthy as a superstar and they can’t wait to see him back in the team.
The lad is a decent mid table footballer, but he’s making no difference to our midfield. We have so many similar players in midfield. And the ones we have would struggle to make the bench of the top 6.

If we are going to really kick on, we need two new centre midfielders over the next 2 windows.

People who comment on the stuff Everton’s official social media posts are strange. 95% of it goes against what you hear at the match, in the pub, etc. I’m convinced that they’re not real people, but bots that Everton have bought to only comment good things.

I would like us to get Doucoure.

I honestly thought he would have prioritised him in the summer.

I can understand Silva wanting to run the rule over Gana and Schniederlin amongst others. I just feel a big, powerful midfielder would alter our dynamic significantly.

I still hope Beningime can grow into that type of player.

It remains a clear deficiency.

Doucoure is a good player and has been pivotal (no pun intended) to Watford's excellent start to the season. But Watford will demand a huge fee and there are equally good players around who would be a lot cheaper. They may need longer to bed into the premier league, plus Doucoure knows how Silva wants to play. So we may decide it's worthwhile paying the premium. Suppose it depends how much Watford want. I've no doubt they'll sell if the price is right.

We were never going to solve all our problems in one window. Arguably the CB and LB problems were more important and the opportunity to bring in a £30m+ player for a signing on fee was too good an opportunity to miss out on. Our inability to sell off our surplus players no doubt curtailed our spending ability too so we ended up with a couple of loans ourselves.

I think Silva is looking to one of those loans, Gomes, to provide the service that Doucoure does at Watford. Time will tell whether we get the shell of a player he became at Barca, or the classy operator he was at Valencia. If it's the latter, he certainly has it in his locker to be as good as, if not better than Doucoure. Fingers crossed on that one.

As regards Baningime, I don't see him becoming that player, but I do have high hopes of him becoming the top class DM we need. It's a real shame he's been injured all pre season and a bigger shame Allardyce didn't use him more last season, especially as Davies was so clearly struggling and in need of a rest. I do think this lad has all the attributes we need. He is so comfortable in possession (so much so that he got caught out a few times last season but he'll learn from that) and has got a real eye for a pass that we didn't see last season due to the way we set up under Allardyce. He's also as tenacious as Gana in the tackle and quick too. Hopefully he'll save us a lot of money in the transfer market.

I think he might have thought Schneiderlin Gueye and Siggurdson would be better than they are. I agree with you though, central midfield has to be the next area to be upgraded, currently it’s just not good enough.

Good on the ball but so slow. We love a slow midfielder at Everton though.

I was thinking in regards to NFL draft.
Do you take the need or the best available.

Silva knows Richarlison and Doucoure.
*Both (one we know) improve us massively.

Clearly we needed defenders badly.

Hopefully we add Zakaria/Doucoure and Lozano in January. Still lots of work needed for the 1st team.

I think he is too old for the Brands game plan, were getting the average age down and looking at players with a resale value i would like to think
