Not sure why we'd do that. At this point in Moyes's last season we'd conceded 35 goals and kept 4 clean sheets. This season we've conceded 39 and kept 8. There's really very little wrong with our defensive set up, and if we hadn't conceded 3 soft goals live on BBC nobody would be batting an eyelid about our defensive record.

Fair point. I would say, we've looked a shambles from set pieces and not just the calamity of Millwall.

but again no one is disputing why moyes went, see the reception he got on his final game, it was boss

people started to dislike him when he began to show disrespect to everton ( over baines & felliani ) and that's where it all started

also moyes was only aware he was taking over united towards the very end of the season, it was kept quiet and wasn't all in the media to make the pressure worse

Is making bids for players you have managed previously being disrespectful tho?

If so there is no difference between how Moyes acted to how Marco acted over Richarlson

Moyes knew in February that he was going at the end of the season and iam not criticising him one bit. I was making the point that I don't understand the venom on here towards him.

He was always going to be chasing Baines, he was the best LB in the country at the time and a player he knew well, fair play to Leighton , he stayed.

If somebody ( Moyes or anybody else for that matter) offered 28M for Fellaini, I would have driven him there myself.

I'm pleased that the last two results ensure Silva's continuity into next season but overall I'm struggling to find any particular improvement or progression for the season as a whole.

Much work to do at both ends of the pitch and in gaining a consistency of performance and effort if not results. Poor home form, poor overall, and we are still trapped in a spiral where we only get points from a limited and select number of games, with disappointment in both cups.

I think a top manager gets something extra from the squad even from a standing start and works within the limitations. I haven't seen that from Silva and I don't think there is going to be much coming his way in the summer, outside of a badly needed striker. I can quite easily forsee him talking about budgets again early in the summer - not saying he shouldn't but to me he was reasonably well backed last year.

To succeed, you have to get more from less and do better than expected with the resources at your disposal. That makes a compelling case to go to Brands and the board for more funding.

Our points total thus far is disappointing and I still maintain we should be finishing 7th but there it is.

I said a few weeks ago that I'd like to hear Silva's defence of the season behind closed doors and what he would say to justify himself and what he has brought to the improvement of players individually and the squad as a whole, despite the obvious difficulties.

We won't get that honesty and I don't suppose we should either - but I do think he would struggle to give a credible rebuttal based on what we have seen - that's my concern.

Is it disrespectful to bid for former players? Of course not

But if you come out on your high horse telling them yo swerve Everton because they're poo and join him at United how can you not see why that won't anger Everton fans?

So again it's not that he left or wanted players he worked with ( that's normal) it's how he went about it

Agree with most of this but we have to be patient. There has been so much fundamental change in all areas of the club it would frankly have been a miracle to manage that transition so smoothly that we'd be up there challenging for say 4th. Personally I'll be reviewing towards Xmas this year.

Moyes should have been sacked the second it became public that he'd agreed to join united months earlier without permission from Everton to speak to other clubs. I don't care that there was only like 3 games left or whatever, he should have been punted on the spot.

Might be jumping the gun, or maybe not, but Sunday evening may well be the match that Silva, and the newer players, started to get what this club is.

Not the result, which was ok, not the performance, which was ok. But if seasoned Everton watchers on here were astonished and proud at them crowd scenes and NOISE before kickoff, and how relentless it was most of the game, heaven only knows how it might impact on him and the players.

Hope so anyrate.

Only if we can keep it up.

We backed the team and we got a performance, if we did that every home game we would win vastly more games.

No it doesn’t at all.

But I’m personally trying to be a bit more positive. He’s been good last two games. Made some risky choices that came off.

I hope it continues and we can forget the absolute crap that went before it.

I too would like to announce a more positive outlook regards silva…

I still think it will be very tricky going for the rest of season BUT if we can perform like we did sunday we should be ok
