It's not about back up, it's about options. We've got the same 2 centre backs as we had last year, but last year we also had someone else who was consistently getting picked ahead of one of them. It's just weird to try and spin it as anything other than a backward step. Pretty much every other team in the league has got more than 2 senior centre halves, I'm not sure why we would find it more difficult to attract one than anyone else.
The backward step is that we are not as strong because we do not have 3 senior centre backs. They tried to rectify that but it fell through. Yes they had all summer but as usual in the transfer window it’s not always as simple as picking a player and getting him in, there are other factors.
The facts are though that Mina and Keane are our first choice centre back pairing and if they stay clear of injury can form a good partnership.
If you can’t see that then you are just constantly searching for negatives.
It’s up to Holgate or Feeney to step up if required. End of story, stop cry arsing about it and let’s see how that pans out.
We have more quality depth in attacking areas and midfield.
