He needs to get his own man is as manager. Also, he’s been elevated to some Saint level far too early, once again. He hasn’t managed to move the dross on, which we some desperately needed.
Any DoF who observes the tat served up by our "attack" for 6 months and then fails to move for one in a transfer window has a huge question mark hanging over him as far as I'm concerned.

The whole world could see what business we needed to do in January, and he sat on his hands.

Cahill was to all intents and purposes a striker. Let's face it, he was practically useless in midfield.

We need a forward in before judging this situation. It should have been done before now and it's been down to the DoF to impress that upon all concerned above him. He hasn't though, and he's a major part of the reason we're staggering to the end of the season looking for a few wins.
Should of been just as important as getting defenders in in the summer and then to not even try in January like you say is just criminal.

If he thought ar well Richarlison can play up front aswell then I am seriously worried about the decisions he'll make in the future.

I agree. As awful as we are at the moment, and as hapless as Silva appears to be right now, sacking him would do more harm than good. We're not far off being a laughing-stock as it is, and another sacking would have them rolling in the aisles. In all likelihood we'd get another stopgap manager whom we'd have to replace in the near future, after yet another massive payout (no-one would come cheap to us at this juncture). We have to somehow scrape our way through the rest of the season - chances are we can secure enough points to avoid relegation. Silva can only properly be judged next October/November. If he hasn't shown he can learn from his errors - and he must be clever enough to realise this is his last chance at a big job - then he should go. Summer is the chance for Brands to show he can do the job we need from him. As well as player recruitment, he must also be looking at the coaching staff and at changing the entire mentality of the club. And he needs to be doing his homework on Silva's replacement, should one be needed, so any change can be effected smoothly and fast.
It's a test of both Brands and Moshiri. If they cave in on this they may as well just forget making an impact on the pitch.

They have to see this as their moment to show leadership.
It's not a case of fetishizing the season, more a case of being a supporter and weekly having it rammed home that we are a mediocre mid-table side playing relegation standard football. If you can stomach the weekly feelings of total desolation, your a better man than I am.

It's about having perspective and a long term view of what's in place. Brands is brought in for just such moments. If people saw him as a figure who is hired to fire manager's quicker I think (and hope) they have that all backwards.

Brands - I am led to believe - is not a flapper.

Those decisions are, of course, made within the context of an owner looking to prune wages. Brands isn't completely responsible.

He probably didn't have a budget unless he shifted more and the one he wants wasn't available in January. But I agree signing no striker up to standard is a massive issue and it has been since Rom left. So you are looking at Moshiri, Walsh, Koeman, Silva and Brands to blame for that. Buying sub standard or not going all in on one. The truth is you need two or three good strikers in this league to achieve anything we don't have one of required standard.

This team is not just lacking a striker. There is no central midfielder good enough. We have massive gaps at right back, our CBs are dreadful, our GK has been poor, and I’m not sure there’s an adequate right sided forward in the team.

This team should’ve been closer to the relegation zone than 8th last year and it’s clouded our judgement of how they are performing this year. I sill have hope that Mina will come around, but Digne, Richarlison, Bernard have all improved this team significantly. I don’t think Brands can fill all of those holes in the summer, but if he can bring in similar quality, we should be much improved. It’s just going to take a couple of windows.

Buy nobody but goalscorers in the summer. No quality in the final third at all.

Our defence, midfield, full backs (well one of them) and even keeper all have questions over them as well though.

We had one of the best goalscorers in football a short few seasons back. We were still rubbish and in pretty much the same state as we are now.

Buy/mould a team that fits together in a system that works.

Personally feel like over the Summer/January his hands were massively tied in the market due to the wage stranglehold left from Koeman/Allardyce era.
And they still are.

In order not be penalized by the league we cannot increase the wage bill any higher until this summer unless we flog the crap Koeman, Walsh, and Martinez filled our squad with.
