That's just an excuse.

The right players will be there. The question is whether this is just the same old Everton not getting them and hanging on and hanging on. If the attacking situation isn't addressed in January I'll know that Brands is just another duffer, taking Goodison gold and towing the line.
?

Get the majority of them in this coming summer and see us spend the first two months of next season minimum gelling them.

The January window is there not just for teams at opposite ends of the table. If the player is there for a position we need filling now then they should be brought in. What is there to gain by sticking with the attackers we have now? We all know their weaknesses. We dont need any more time wasted to give Silva the pieces he needs to make us more of a threat. And it'll be frustrating beyond belief persevering with Tosun/DCL/Richarlison up front.

January-May should be used as far as we can to build a team ready to hit the ground running next season. We also have a cup still to play for.
What was the last succesfull january deal for us? Was it Stones when he was a kid? Can't think of anybody else, maybe Arteta if we're counting the loan deals.

In fact, there aren't many of them through the entire league. Bar Suarez and Arshavin (who faded badly and very fast) there aren't many success stories when it comes to the january window.

Just my idea - maybe it's because not a single club want to lose their best players in the middle of the season? You'd rather see us sign some sub-par players just to make the numbers up?

We are desperate though: we need to be getting players in now to play the way Silva wants to play with NEXT SEASON in mind.

Do you think it's a better idea to wait and get them mid-summer window and just have the rubbish pre-season games to blend them in? I dont. That would be typical amateur Everton stuff....and I thought times were changing in terms of recruitment patterns?

Not often I agree with you but I do on this. I’m sick of ya starting seasons slowly because we have to wait for our players to adapt, get fit, settle in a new country and league etc. I want to be as ready as we can be to hit the ground running

And... we are back to normal :) as in I don’t agree, some teams will not sell certain players as they need them to challenge , stay up and the only way of getting them is to over pay by 20-30%. Now if we do this you will be the first one slamming brands forbid overspending and when it comes to finding the stadium and we are short you will be on mosh back too. If we can get the players he wants we should, but saying “ if he doesn’t you know he’s a failure “ isn’t fair or correct imo

Isn't that EXACTLY why we have Brands, to NOT do stuff like this? Our time horizon to threaten the top 4 is not this season. I want at least 7th and European footy (assuming 7th gets it). I'd love to see a 20 goal scorer, but we aren't making up 13 points on Chelsea.

Frankfurt is sitting 1 point out of 5th and 4 out of 4th. Seb Haller is maybe their best player and has 9 goals and 8 assists. Why on earth would they move him now? If he's the guy we want and he's available in the summer for half of what he's available for now, I think you'd wait.

Alassane Plea is another interesting player. Again, BMG is sitting in 3rd. They aren't moving him for anything less than a kings random. That's simply not good business with our time horizon. Just like they aren't moving Hazard even though he might be a nice fit at RW.

Now Denis Zakaria isn't playing as much as he'd like there, he's got some serious potential and would be an interesting option...

Just because Brands is a shrewd DOF should not mean we shy away from making big money signings providing they are worth the money.

I think post Walsh Evertonians have a fear of the notion of us spending money when in reality its whats needed to be done if we are to push on as a top club. Spurs are the exeption however they can offer the bright lights of London to players whereas we cant.

Considering we paid £40 million for Richarlison I would hope if the right player is available we would pay the asking price.

Imagine the fume had we walked away from the negotiating table with Watford for Rico and someone like West Ham signed him, even more so when he's sold for £100 million+ down the line.

Saw on Twitter that Brands said he doesn't like to buy in January, so thought I'd pop in just to see if his #1 fan had any comments about it

I can see he has plenty ;)
Moshiri also said in an interview we wouldnt be buying in Jan, who knows, i wouldnt be suprised if we dont, were not making top 4 either way and this squad can maintain 8th

Brands is far too experienced and wise to be giving his true intentions away in an interview prior to the transfer window. He has been there and done it many times and knows how to play the game and how easy it is for prices to be jacked up and clubs held to ransom or played against one another because they know your intent and situation. He is simply directing people and clubs in a certain thought direction of his own choosing and we wont really know his intentions until it actually happens. I wouldn't be surprised if he already has a few irons in the fire with incomings and outgoings.
