Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has described the prospect of signing Jack Rodwell as 'impossible'.

The Everton midfielder has long been courted by the Premier League's top clubs but no move materialised over the close season.

That was despite reported interest from the likes of Manchester United but close neighbours City have now confirmed their interest.

And despite Mancini's attempts to create a side of potential champions, he knows any swoop in January for Rodwell is likely to end in failure.

The Italian has the resources to move for the injured England Under-21 international but he told the Daily Star Sunday: "We put English players in the team but it isn't easy because all the clubs that have English players won't sell.

"I like Jack Rodwell but will Everton sell? Impossible. If I can, I give young players a chance.

"I was just 16 when I first played in Serie A."

I'd like to see this interview in context. Clearly dropped a big hint to Rodwell there.

For City to come in and plunder us for a second time would be too humiliating. I think Rodwell will go (he might even have been placed in cotton wool for a January sale), but I doubt he'll end up at City.

Huh, you're saying Landon to join Shitty?

Wtf, do they need him for?

I am , mate .

Or least the possibility of hijacking the deal .

Point 1 ; HE WANTS TO COME TO US , however IF , and I repeat , iIF, we are still in bottom half , no chance of honours , no Euro ,...who the fuk knows .???

They would take him tomorra .

To sell more shirts to popularize themselves in the USA, probably...

And so other teams cannot sign him.

Weren't the FA investigating City for breaking some rule or other recently? The one about signing players simply so other teams can't.

Like they give a flying one , kid ???

With every day that passes, my disgust for Shitty keeps on growing. Clueless, Classless and Soulless, just [Poor language removed] off City.

Taking tips off Appy Arry is he ? The FA won't take them to task on this because the city owners, if they wanted to, could probably buy the FA. It's the same with Chelski. if the FA took them to court over something, Chelsea and shitty could just keep the case going and going until the FA ran out of money.

This is the unfortunate dichotomy we are going to have to face up to, come January . Landon came here initially to keep himself fit and 'get up to speed' with what can only be called First Class Football in time for the World Cup. He did both and excelled at both in South Africa, well amongst the mediocrity that is the U.S national team. But whilst here, he felt the love of the fast flowing football, the intensity of a derby match and to play against teams he had only seen on his big telly in California. But above all - he felt the love of the Everton faithful !Now, his resolve is going to be tested to the limit come January. Enjoy the roller-coaster ride that is Everton as they struggle to get amongst 'the Sky four' and the Europa six or the bitter battle against possible relegation. Or, he can sit and fester on the bench and wait anxiously for some one to either get injured or for the rotation system roulette wheel to finally land on him- every six weeks.

Donovan is a footballer first and foremost and a cash cow second. If he went to City he would be rolling in the cash, but if he came to us, he'd be playing week in week out and rolling in the adulation he'd truly deserve.

The ball is in Everton's court now and they know others will be ready to pounce and drag him away and stick him on a bench to rot. We just need to prove to him that a good ol dog fight is a better option than playing it safe sat watching along side all the other multi millionaires. Who couldn't give a [Poor language removed] who they play for!

This being said , the kid is a Gentleman . Old Skool Stylee .

Thus , he could still jib them , but this is what I was told during the week .

Vero .

If it was just a loan deal I asume the choice would be down to Landon himself. If it was , however, a permanent deal don't the MLS hold his contract ?. So they could make him go to whoever pays the biggest fee ?. Kind of like Sheff Utd who made Kyle Naughton go to Spurs.
