Yes we should and yes most of us on here wanted us to lose on three occasions in recent years when a win made no difference to our position but losing prevented a greater evil occurring....twice when it was crucial that City won, for obvious reasons, and the other when Sunderland needed to beat us to relegate the Barcodes.

However, those criteria do not apply tomorrow and even if City were closer to the RS near the top, it would be way to early in the season to wish we lost a game.

So let’s get at these tomorrow.

COYBB

Disagree mate, we need to create a winning culture and you can't do that by willfully losing games.

And the greater evil? It's football not a Tolkien novel.

First 2 games have been us having the lion's share of possession with small periods of bombardment from the opposition

Be interesting to see the approach against someone who will dominate and bombard us

But always BELIEVE COYB
They won't dominate us as they normally do and we play better when counterattacking anyway... 2-3 to us.

Put Richarlison on Otamendi, instruct him to pull him around the pitch and create gaps. Joke of a player for current champions.
"Joke of a player"...60 caps over 10years, Velez 1league title, Porto 3 titles, 1 cup, 3 super cups, 1 Europa Cup, City 2 titles 1 fa cup 3 league cups. Individual honours, South America team of the year, La Liga team of the year, PFA team of the year, twice named in Copa America team of the tournament. He signed for us for 24mill. and been good value. His biggest fault is his desire to win which on occasions cost's him. If you think he's a joke you must have seen quality!

Though from what I've seen lately, he does seem a bit dodgy, like.

He's never been good without a superior player as a partner. He dives in a lot and that can be taken advantage of. I think Everton's path to victory is quite clearly having Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin outplay Otamendi and whoever his partner is.

I'd say his biggest fault is diving in rashly and looking like an utter tit when attackers see him coming a mile off and just side step him. He's been at the heart of defeats to Wolves(H) and Norwich(A) off the top of my head and I'm sure he's made many more faults.

Did anyone suggest we “wilfully lose games”?

No, they didn’t.

The club and it’s professional playing staff would never be guilty of that.

We as fans however, we are different.....we have licence to think that way, even though we cannot effect it.

Regarding football and a “Tolkien novel”.

Here’s the thing....football is a real life thing for us.

Tolkien’s novels are not a real life thing....in fact they are pure fantasy.

So if EFC lose a relatively meaningless match toward the end of a season and that stops the RS winning the Title then be it so.

No Evertonian living in this city regret us losing to City the twice that those losses denied them the PL title.
