Manager, Long Term.

Apology accepted. Given the choice I would not have had Sam Allardyce as manager. A friend of mine is a West Ham fan and he always said He loathed Allardyce because “ he had no football soul.” However, we had just sacked Koeman and Allardyce was all that was available, although I would have preferred David Unsworth continue in charge until the end of the season. I respect your opinion about Eddie Howe, perhaps he wouldn’t be suitable. Football has changed so much since I began following it. Everything is about money now. You know Kev, I think if Wigan got taken over by Arab millionaires and started paying huge salaries a lot of the top players and coaches would want to join them.

ps I have taken your advice and introduced myself via the link you gave me.

Before we talk about a long term manager we have to talk about the long term structure within the club.
Are we continuing with the director of football role and, if so, will that be Steve Walsh.

We , at present, have a manager and director of football but I don't know how they work together or what their responsibilities are... more correctly I probably should say I don't know what the role of Steve Walsh is... but that may not be his fault.

My assumption was the director of football took an overview of the club which, for instance, would allow for an easier transition from one manager to another as well as having a role in recruitment of playing and coaching staff.
So far, that doesn't seem to have worked at all.

Before we get a new manager let's decide how this whole managerial thingy is going to work in the first place.

If Bill goes as expected I can imagine a cull at the club
People will RESIGN to take on new challenges and a raft of professional people will take up roles at the club
I can’t imagine Elstone being left in charge of a new stadium build
A new CEO for the stadium
A new CEO for the football side
A new commercial director
A new DOF
A new manager
Hopefully Moshiri grows a pair

Elstone will go the moment Kenwright goes.

He may be inept, but he`s not stupid, he knows full well, that without Kenwrights protection, he`s bolloxed.

Does Moshiri really have a clue? We need a Daniel Levy !

I'll throw this in here -

There is a bad lack of cohesion at the club that contributes to so many of our issues. I mean it's happening right before our eyes again, we've brought a load of players in without knowing where and how they will fit in at the club and the side and then just deemed a couple of them not good enough and then we have the fans writing off the same players as well.

We need somebody like what Niko Kovac has done at Frankfurt - https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2016/nov/07/niko-kovac-eintracht-frankfurt-bundesliga

If you can be arsed give it a read. That was back in 2016, right now Frankfurt are sitting in 3rd. He's a handsome [Poor language removed] to boot. We need to get away from the buzz words like our project and long term vision and get somebody in who's not only grounded but isn't going to let the fools behind the scenes bring us down.

Can you really see that happening?

No, but there's always hope. I just want someone who actually does what blind freddy can see needs doing through the course of the game. Someone who employs clear tactics playing to the strengths of the players rather than shoehorning them into stupid positions and has the intelligence to read the game and make the right changes at the right times.

If (and it looks likely) Emery loses to real in the last 16, I can see him being sacked come the end of the season. Whether he would come here is another matter.
