Did you go to the game mate? Away to City I thought we put in a really good performance. We had them at arms length for the majority of the game and when the chance presented itself we took it. It was almost the perfect away performance. Defensively we look really solid bar that one Holgate mistake. Make no mistake City will smash a few teams at home this season.

DCL was absolutely superb last night, as was Jagielka and Rooney. Only blip was Koeman's brain fart bringing on both Klaasen and Sigurdsson and taking off Davies and especially Williams.

I believe the last time they were beaten at home was by us in January.

They're a fantastic side.

I find it odd the amount of folks on here calling us for choking or collapsing. We stood up in the face of sustained pressure from a very good City side away from home. I am pretty sure that City fans view this as two points dropped at home.

Three huge league games coming up and if we come out of them unbeaten I will be very happy. At that point we would only be likely mid table. We can then build on those points and start putting the lower teams to the sword especially away from home and we will be able to see how far we have moved on over the summer.

Far too early to be calling anything out, positive or negative. It is August.

I think gauye was again outstanding. .good solid defensive performance, but lacking going forward. Still need more pace, baines too slow. Imagine what spurs would have done to city down to 10 men

What struck me more than anything was Man City's insecurity

The big video at the start talking about how "this is OUR City"
The firework display for a standard league match with nothing on the line
The fact the City players got music before coming out for the second half

It just felt like constant over compensating to drive home the point that "We matter, we're important, look how important and big we are!!!"

Why don't you just be Manchester City? You know, a proper club with real history that's existed for years and was still getting 20,000+ crowds even in the lower league? Why don't you just be them instead of trying to be something you aren't?

As for the match itself, after a nights sleep I'm happy enough with the point. City were so much better than us even with 10 men, but we showed good Dunkirk spirit not to wither after conceding the equaliser and when Schneiderlin went off. Under previous regimes we might have then gone on to lose the game, but we held on and got a point. I would have taken a point before kick off

Thought Holgate and DCL both played well, as did Gana. I think we still need a striker, but aside from that I think we have the makings of a good side, with a lot of good young players as well. Something is definitely being built here

tbh i think most city fans see all that stuff as a load of [Poor language removed]. such as the video, the tunnel club, things like that. its the fans that make the club and the majority of our fans are still the same core group of people that went when we were [Poor language removed] and come from the local area. I've got a lot of respect for everton and your fans and tbh i thought you played really well last night. hopefully you do well this year and get ahead of those tourists from anfield ;)

We didn't have the ball in the first half due to the quality of their midfield and attack. They lost an anonymous fullback which made little difference to the overall pattern of the game. If you can't get control of midfield then you are far more likely to lose or at least concede. Thought Davies was the main problem as the game passed him by, though the 2 who came on did not change the flow

Where to start.

Jags and Baines were magnificent.

Keane beyond magnificent.

Gana, Wayne, Pickford....top notch.

I could eadiy vote for DCL, whose performance reminded me is the nascent Graeme Sharp in the OT cup tie in 1983.

But I am going for Holgate as a gesture of support as much as owt else.

He was superb and I won't let his wayward header detract from that.

I vote for Holgate ;)

DCL gets my vote for how much exceeded expectations. Rooney, Pickford, Jags, Holgate and Gana all had great performances as well.

Disappointing 2nd half, it was clear to me we didn't have the legs to take advantage of the extra man- the weekday games are really testing squad depth. Would like to see Rooney, Gana, Keane, Baines all rested against Split.

The all round performance was pleasing, but it would've been nice to see us make more of an effort to kill the game off whilst we had an extra man.

DCL was excellent. Could have bagged the winner too if Besic wasn't such a cretin. Holgate was impressive apart from the Sterling assist. Hope he continues to get game time.

A bit more pace in the side would have caused more problems for that City back three, Kompany having to take out DCL being a good example. Lookman would have thrived if he'd been brought on for the last 20-30 minutes.

A point away to City is a good result.

In the context of the game however, it's really disappointing given we were playing 11 v 10 for about 50 mins. Should have controlled the game better and even pushed for a 2nd.

Still a solid point.

Scandalous that we can't appeal Schneids red. Could not have put in a better tackle.

DCL did well last night, but not convinced at all on him. Works hard and puts himself about, but his technical ability isn't great.

2 assists yo

Two terrible decisions for the sending offs but from the BBC:

And the Toffees' cause was helped when England full-back Walker collided with Leighton Baines and was then booked again, rather harshly, for catching Calvert-Lewin in the face as they competed for a high ball.

Everton also finished with 10 men when midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin was shown a second yellow card for catching Sergio Aguero late.
Never take anything on the BBC as reality. They know who they like and it isn't Everton.
