One question.
Why?
Now the Macs are x86 based, they are just fancy PC's running Leopard. Why buy a Mac? I just don't see the value in it.
Example:
This Mac, introduced in April 08:
Apple iMac "Core 2 Duo" 3.06 24-Inch (08) Specs
Here are the important bits:
24" Widescreen
Intel E8400 CPU @ 3.06 Ghz
2 Gb RAM (PC6400 DDR2)
500Gb HDD
GeForce 8800 GS with 512MB RAM
How much? $2100
$2100!!! That is a lot of money!
So, lets build a PC that hits all the same specs, and I am picking the Gucci stuff where available:
24" Widescreen
Intel E8400 CPU @ 3/06 Ghz
4 Gb Corsair XMS RAM (PC6400 DDR2)
1Tb HDD
GeForce 8800 GTS 512 Mb RAM
Blu-Ray burner
Antec P180 Case
Corsair 1000 watt Power Supply
Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Soundcard
Asus P5Q Deluxe Motherboard
And then add in all the other stuff required to get a fully working computer (keyboard, mouse network card etc etc)
How much???
$1872. That is $200 LESS for a better specced machine.
So to all you "Well, my Mac can run Windows too" guys, why not buy a PC and put Leopard onto your PC! It can and has been done! And at $129 for a full license of Leopard, you are still coming in way under the Apple price, plus you can upgrade! Apple solders the video cards to the motherboard in their machines!
So, the conclusion for this MAC bashing thread (Not the software), buy a PC and put Leopard on it!
Apple supporters - put that in your pipe and smoke it
*Sits down and awaits Apple owner responses
