It's really time we work out what were going to do with young Luke, he's 21 now so he's at an age were he really needs to start getting minutes.

I felt he was to good to go out on loan again and didn't deserve to especially after such a good preseason but he's not even making the bench at this stage.

I think we do need to loan him out again, try and send him to a top Championship club.

I think we might send him on loan in Jan, before Oveido comes up to full match fitness though he is still likely to get minutes especially if Baines gets injured.

Think he might get into a lower Premier league side though, his set pieces alone are pretty worthwhile.

Yeah tbh, I think a PL club needing a LB would be well served taking him on loan. The lad just needs snr games now. Will probably end up in the championship tho.

Must be tough breaking thru when ur up against Baines and now Oviedo too.

Lets bare in mind that Pienaar isn't a genuine left winger or left midfielder. He is a converted Attacking midfielder, and he's 32 years old. Its also worth noting that what we have seen from Oviedo has been predominantly left mid. Should the coaching side be looking to build another flank of fear with Oviedo in front of Garbutt?

I'd love to see this tbh. Baines still has at least 3+ years of instant first choice selection ahead of him which might be a bit long for Garbutt to be on the bench though. Hopefully we get a glimpse at some of the 'ideas for the future' in the Europa games once we've already got the group wrapped up.

I do think we will see a left side of Oviedo and Garbutt in the EL or early FA Cup rounds. However, LB is deffo Oviedo's best position IMO. So a loan spell at a decent Championship side is probably the best thing for Garbutt.

Got a feeling he may play one out of the next two games,he's a good lad Garbutt, and let no-one down at Swansea when he started, excellent delivery from corners, the way he plays looks to me like he's been shadowing Leighton, also its important to protect Bainsey and keep him fresh.

......very impressed with this lad, I'm very surprised a Premier League club haven't bid as I think he's that good now. Such a shame for him that he plays for the same club as a little genius called Baines. I wouldn't blame him for moving on but we should ensure he's contracted so we get a good price.

While I'd like to see more of him, and even Oviedo for that matter, I think we'd be silly to drop Baines for an away European game given his form this season.

Yep he's highly regarded Eggs,I believe he was pulled in to train with the full England squad the other week.

Maybe we should do what happens in Spain a lot - sell him cheap and insert a fairly cheap buy back clause into his contract. Loaning him out for 6 months is pointless, when he'd return for next season there'd still be the same problem (LB and BO). Plus excessive loans is unhealthy for a lot of young lads.
